Gameday Rituals
 

In order to do my part and help the 'Skins win, I have a few rituals that I go through before the game. I'm sure you guys have a couple of your own... Anyway, these are mine.

1.) Never play as the 'Skins versus whatever team they're facing in real life on Madden, as every time I've done it, it jinxes us and we lose.

2.) Put on a Redskin's Jersey, put Rolling Rock in the 'Skins mug, and make potato skins. I swear we win 75% of the time I do this.

3.) Wear my lucky Skins hat that has never been washed in 5 years.

4.) Hold onto my football signed by Joe Gibbs

5.) Finally, and most importantly, sing "Hail to the Redskins" at the top of my lungs to annoy my girlfriend.

night before i run a 60 minute simmed madden game, restarting it if the redskins get too far behind ;)

Every Sunday morning, I get all of my Redskins stuff out of my room and set it up all over my basement. After its all set up, I pump Easy like Sunday Morning as I go around and touch each peice of Skins' gear. (I dont allow myself to listen to the song at any other time.) Then as the song climaxes, I put on my eyeblack and go sit down and get ready for the game. AFter the game if we win, I will dance and sing to Tina Turners " Simply the Best "

Every Sunday I get sick to my stomach over the thought of another defeat!

This Monday I'm getting plastered to numb any pain I may experience.
This is my favorite Skins matchup, Cowboys & Indians :)

Got one of my own....lock the wife outta the house or persuade her to go out for a sunday brunch with her friends....nothing good ever happens for the skins when she's around watching.

This time around will be tricky...how do I get rid of her on monday night? ;-)

No problem hurrykaine, here's a couple of ideas: (1) file a restraining order,(2) tell her to meet you at a secluded (and distant) restaurant for a romantic meal, (3) have a friend write a 'secret admirer' letter and have her meet the 'secret admirer' at a motel in another state.

You can always make up afterwards.

Why don't you do it every game? You're killing us!!! ;)

I make chili before every game when I'm at home. If I go to the game, I get fairly drunk. As I've said to any who asks, "I don't know how good the game is going to be - I Know the tailgate will be good."

I downplay each game as much as possible. Try not to get too hyped about it. Friends invite me over to watch the game and I'll act real nonchalant about it "Yeah I'll see. I've got some errands to run. Might not be able to catch the game anyway" They know that 95% of the time even if I have something else to do I'll be there from start to finish to watch the game.

Then while the game is on I don't say or react to anything really. I just sit there and watch like it was nothing. On a rare occasion I'll get really animated. And at halftime I always make two phone calls. One is to anyone else who I know is watching the game and ask them what they think so far, and the other call is to someone I know couldn't possibly care about the game-my aunt for example-just to take my mind off the game for a couple of minutes

Of course being part of the Warpath now sure makes it harder not to get fired up for everything Redskins

That lucky Skins hat you have been wearing without washing it for 5 years hasn't been doing so well. Its record in the last 5 years is under .500. MIght I suggest tossing it in the laundry? Maybe you'll wash out the bad karma that was in there prior to Joe Gibbs return. Lord knows we've had plenty of bad karma around here for the last decade...

I have two hats I wear...A game day hat and a game time hat. The game day hat is whatever new hat I buy at the beginning of each season. The game time hat I got back in 1991 (staples and tape and all its still in one piece and never been washed). before there last super bowl. I hope it brings the same fortune now that Gibbs is back. I also have a Redskins Divot Tool that I keep in my left pocket all the time and it only comes out during games.

My pregame ritual is to act very calm before the game starts, and then yell and cuss at the television as soon as the Redskins TURN THE BALL OVER 7 TIMES.

Then, I fantasize about hitting the television with a baseball bat.

Then, the tears start.
