What is Portis' Motivation for This?
PFT has an article about Portis already cutting Zorn down this year:
ProFootballTalk.com - Portis Becoming A Major Problem For Zorn First of all I'm curious if anyone else heard about this alleged incident during OTAs? I certainly hadn't. But more importantly, to those of you who listen to the radio shows and whatnot, has Portis ever said specifically what his big issue w/ Zorn is? If it's limited to the times when Zorn went to the passing game or used Betts instead (while Portis was ailing) then I must say CP has to be one of the most juvenile personalities in the league. |
Re: What is Portis' Motivation for This?
Sort of already being discussed, but it's probably worth it's own thread.

Damn I used that thread checker to see if this was already out there...

Well, there wasn't a thread about it until now. I'm not a mod, but IMO Clinton's diva BS deserves it's own thread. |

Mike Florio regurgitating old stories about CP doesn't deserve its own thread (sorry Goat). I swear, I hope his f'ing website crashes. |
Re: What is Portis' Motivation for This?

Re: What is Portis' Motivation for This?
Is there any REPUTABLE source that confirms this? ProFootballTalk.com is the sports equivalent of the "National Inquirer".

I would like to humbly suggest an addendum to the forum guidelines. You're not allowed to post anything referencing Pro Football Talk as the source.
I'm being entirely serious. That site is where just about every ridiculous unfounded rumor gets started. Then they spread around the internet like wildfire. I'd rather not see the Warpath be contributing to this in any way shape or form. Keep in mind Pro Football Talk generates revenue through site hits. Everytime you visit, it drives up their stats and makes them more valuable to advertisers. They'll throw these rumors out just to draw people to their site. They definitely know their stuff is bogus but they're doing it anyway to make a profit. I'm not saying the Warpath should launch a boycott or something like that, but I think it'd be cool if the Warpath put itself above absurd rumors and maintained site quality by insisting that we stick only to verified stuff, or insider info that certain members of the site (SS) may be privy to. |
Re: What is Portis' Motivation for This?
NBC recently has partnered up with PFT, I wonder how that will affect their bogus rumor mongering abilities?

Re: What is Portis' Motivation for This?
In the 90's the was a paper my roommate and would get for laughs - teh Worldwide Weekly. It was your typical grocery store aisle rag but was absolutely out there - "Aliens Ate My Dad's Head and Replaced it With a Watermelon" type stuff. They had photos, and sources, etc. but, essentially, as confirmed by one of their writers, they just sat around making up headlines and then writing stories based on them.
PFT = Football Equivalent of the Worldwide Weekly. (Sorry to hijack, but just couldn't resist this link - PALIN BAGS A BIGFOOT | Weekly World News) |

Doubt it will do much. PFT will continue to do what it always does. Take any and all rumors and post them without a filter. It's not too different from NBC's relationship with rotonation.com or rotoworld.com (whatever it's called). |
Re: What is Portis' Motivation for This?
My 2 cents, yeah CP can be a pain in the ass. It would be stupid to deny such at this point. But in the end the guy does go balls out on game day. Nobody can dispute that.
25 years ago, you could say the same exact thing about John Riggins. So he should be the last one to make any comments regarding Portis. It's like Danny Ferry, in his role as GM of the Cleveland Cavaliers, raising a stink about a draft pick holding out or a player refusing to honor a contract |

Yeah I definitely think it's hilarious that Riggo has called out CP for basically the same behavior he was infamous for. |
