Postcard from camp: Redskins

Jason Campbell welcomes throngs of fans to Redskins training camp - Peter King - SI.com

At Redskins Park, in Ashburn, Va., the year-round training ground for Washington, in the flight path of nearby Dulles Airport a half-hour from the city. It's a mini-Snyderville, with a field of tents set up behind the building for the big-wig sponsors and banners ringing the backside of the building (Toyota, FedEx, MasterCard, etc.). Fans park outside the complex and walk in, and this morning, the first practice day of camp for the full squad, about 1,000 (mostly sedate) fans come to stand on one side of the main practice field to watch the show.

Re: Postcard from camp: Redskins
Talked to well-respected defensive coordinator Greg Blache after the second workout of the day, and he told me Haynesworth would likely move from the inside to end in some passing downs. If that's the case, I asked, would offenses have to face the 350-pound Haynesworth bull-rushing from one side and the lithe Brian Orakpo rushing from the opposite ... on maybe a third of the snaps per game. "Maybe,'' Blache said with a big smile. "Maybe. We'll see.'' It only makes sense to spread those guys out and let offenses figure out who to double.
I can't wait! :)

I have not been this excited or optimistic going into a season for along time. Hopefully, I don't get Heath Shulered again.

Imagine Haynesworth coming off one end, Carter coming off his shoulder and Orapko coming off the other end. Romo may just curl up in a little ball.

Who was the dick with the 'DC WANTS VIC' sign?

Time to get behind JC, not piss him off more.

My thoughts exactly.

Apparently someone was at practice the next day with a sign reading, "Real Fans Want Campbell."

I was pleasantly surprised by how many positive things PK had to say about our team. Good on ya, Peter.

Also, I've been a fan of Moby Dick House of Kabob for years, and I've eaten at the Bethesda locations dozens of times.

Good article, and I can't believe I'm saying that a Peter King column is actually increasing my positive feelings about the Redskins.

This is the best team we've fielded in a long, long time.

It finally controls it's own destiny.

If we win big or go home losers it all goes on the coaches, players, and Lady Luck.

We've got the horses.

Big time.

Agreed. The talent is spread nicely across alot of areas of the team. Alot of guys in their prime. Coaching is gonna be major to get these guys playing together as a unit. Blache is simply an excellent, underrated D-Cord with an excellent group of assistants. Zorn has a lot to prove this year and I feel he will be up to the task. Lets go ahead and win the East this year!

pretty positive article. his only concerns with the team are the offensive line holding up and the possibility of the running game faultering down the stretch. overall good observation of the team.
