Headsets

I was at a BBQ today so I missed good chunks of the game. But I've been hearing some talk about a broken headset or something like that.

Can someone shed some light on that whole situation for me? Thanks

I heard Gibbs couldn't communicate with the QB or anyone "upstairs" throughout the 3rd and some of the 4th quarter. That's why they used their last timeout in the 4th quarter. If you listen to the post game press conference, you know Gibbs wasn't too thrilled about that at all. In some ways it cost us the game.

Enough already with the headsets!! Gibbs said they were malfunctioning even before the game but lost comm with Brunell at the start of the third. Comm with the booth was intermitant. This MAY explain the ridiculous challenge of the Portis fumble but if you know it's not working properly before the game and it finally quits in the third, shouldn't you be at all prepared? How about the old pop warner technique of running a guy in with the play (WR's typically)? If 8 year olds can do it, I should hope we could be flexible enough. Can't blame the headsets on the loss, sorry.

I wasn't trying to blame the headsets for our loss. We lost that game because of turnovers, penalties and mental mistakes. But, the lack of communication cost us a couple of plays and sometimes those couple of plays can win you a ball game.

My bust _P. My comments were out of frustartions over the last few weeks of blaming the refs, the headsets etc... I agree that the lack of comm hurt us but this is a Pro team that needs to overcome this kind of stuff. No offense meant.

Thanks guys. I would think there would be some contingency plan on the part of the Redskins should the headsets fail-signaling the play, a guy running in, whatever

But isn't the rule that if one team's headsets don't work then the other team can't use theirs either? So both teams would be in the same boat so to speak

redwagonskins 10-04-2004 01:12 AM

It didn't appear that that happened. They gave Gibbs a walkie talkie but it looked like the Browns comms were working 4.0 . Strange...

aehs77 10-04-2004 01:17 AM

didn't gibbs say last week in a press confrence that they had signaling as a back up system

For some reason only the visiting teams have problems with the headsets in that stadium. Portis said the Browns D knew what play was coming, a little fishy maybe?

I thought we used our last timeout because Salavea went down. Could be wrong.

Maybe Kenard Lang and Terry Robiskie could have seen some playcalling from Gibbs that resembled what Norv Turner was runnning back in 1999. I'm sure Turner watched Gibbs tapes. Mr. Snyder made sure of that.

Non taken. It's all good.

I heard that the Browns corners knew what the skins were going to do on 3rd down, and that the receivers were only running two different routes. I don't what the hell is going on, but to me it sounds like our offense is a little too predictable.

SUNRA 10-04-2004 09:08 AM

Usually I know at least one good Cornerback on an opposing team. But with the Browns, they were virtually nonexistent. No INTs so I don't know who was doing what, but I wasn't immpressed with their secondary at all.

SmootSmack 10-04-2004 09:56 AM

The Browns signed Chris Clemons to the practice squad last week. Maybe that's why they knew our plays

Meanwhile, the Bengals have signed Cliff Russell to their practice squad
