Wow. Didn't he initially turn down plea agreements offering much less time than this? His career is officially over. He'll be pushing 34 when he gets out.

Bye bye Plax. Your arrogance ended your career. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot...er, leg.

I just heard that his wife is pregnant. Pretty awful that their child won't have a father for the first year+ of his/her life.

anybody know if this is one of those Paris Hilton jail sentences, where he gets 2 yrs, but serves only 6 months or so due to overcrowding, good behavior, whatever...?

The link on ESPN says he can reduce the sentence to 20 months with good behavior.

I don't feel sorry for him and he has no one to blame but himself....carrying a gun in a nightclub. WTF was he thinking?? His whole career all he's done is be a pain in the ass. Can't show up to work on time, can't come to practice. I mean just think how much Pittsburgh thought of him to just let him walk and get nothing in return.

I don't think the prosecuter had offered any plea and vowed to hit Plx with the max he could get. Two years for shooting yourself is a long time. The making of an example.

combined with the fact that 2011 may be a lockout, he certainly is a longshot to play again. Although he may cross over and play if the opportunity presents itself.

Which is why we might not see the end of this. Plaxico can and is argueing that others had this happen and not getting the same sentence, but since the MAYOR and other high up officials came out against him, he was doomed.
I personally do not feel he should spend a minute in jail...the right to bear arms should be enough to supercede any state law. (but I understand that opens a huge can of worms on here)

I think if I were him, I'd take all that money I already accrued and take off to some foriegn island somewhere never to be heard from again. I'm not going to prison for something that dumb. Here Stallworth ACTUALLY KILLS a man (yes he darted out in front of his car, but the arguement could be made, if sober there would be a different outcome) and Stallworth gets 30 days? Plaxico carries a gun (which is a right) and shoots himself, no one else, and he gets 2 years? Nope...wouldn't serve that time.

I do wonder if he can file a petition to be allowed out to "work". We all know he doesn't need practice, so maybe he can petition to be allowed to play while he's still young. All he will be doing is working out in prison anyway.
