Detroit game blacked out in Detroit area
Just an FYI type thread.
Blackout: Detroit area won't see Redskins game on TV - Washington Times The NFL really needs to change that rule, and make it a percentage, less than 100%. With no solid basis, I would say 85% just so that the game has the look and feel of an nfl game when it's on tv |
Re: Detroit game blacked out in Detroit area
well wasn't last years game against detroit not sold out, lots of empty seats. At least we get to see us play

Re: Detroit game blacked out in Detroit area
That's gonna drive fans to the game and generate a ton of local fan loyalty for the NFL in an area with 15%+ unemployment and an awful team.

Its ok, this game is gonna be rated "R" anyways....
Skins romp. |
Re: Detroit game blacked out in Detroit area
I agree. I hate the blackout rule. 85, even 90%... but as someone else said, theres 15% unemployment in Detroit...what do youe expect?

I agree. It would be a nice gesture for the NFL to "relax" these rules considering the economy. |
Re: Detroit game blacked out in Detroit area
I looked up the latest unemployment figures for Detroit - for July it was 28.9%, up from 28.3 in June. I heard on TV this am that 1 in 5 houses are empty. We have a lot to be grateful for here, including a blowout win on Sunday

More than 1/4 unemployed? That's a Third World country number. Geez, Detroit sure has much worse problems than the dreadful Leos. |

Yeah it was blacked out. Pissed me off. I went to Detroit that weekend to visit the in-laws. Thought I was going to the game, last minute and plans changed. So I thought oh well, I'll just watch it on tv. And wouldn't you know it...for the first time in who knows how long the game was blacked out in Detroit! Got to watch the Chiefs instead |

The stats for unemployment in Detroit listed above were 28%. I was just responding to them. 15.5% is still way high. |

I don't give a rat's ass about whether or not people in Michigan see the game. That's their problem.
