Have we heard from Sherman Smith since his hiring?
Seems like we'd even hear from Al Saunders some, though he wasn't much of a media guy it seemed; I haven't heard a thing from Sherman since his hiring unless I've been under a rock.
I know that he won't throw his boy Zorn under the bus, but I'd be very interested in what he thought of the playcalling, intensity, personnel, etc. What's the guy doing other than helping draw up gameplans? Any accountability on his end or is Zorn just working the softer side of the plan? Anyone with any insight? |

He seems like the Blache of the offense (eventhough I have given Blache credit for throwing himself under the bus today. No accountabilty. He is blaming everything on the players. Check out the videos. What exactly qualified him to be our offensive coordinator or whatever he is anyway? |
Re: Have we heard from Sherman Smith since his hiring?
googled a bit about him and found a thread on ES -- some disturbing stuff in there I haven't read on here about some player interviews and whatnot
What Does Sherman Smith Do? - EXTREMESKINS.com Speaking of all of Cooley's plays getting used up early in the Rams game, so that's why they didn't come back to him. The pass from Portis to him was designed to be a 1st down play, but Zorn only had 4 plays drawn up for down there and they had used the other 3??? Is our O that scripted? Jesus, no situational playcalling? If what I'm reading in this thread is right (don't have time to listen to the interviews tonight) it's pretty disturbing and I'm number 1 on the ttyl Zorn bandwagon. |
Re: Have we heard from Sherman Smith since his hiring?
They took the video down anyway.
Here is the podcast if you feel like listening. Kinda boring without video. http://www.csnwashington.com/common/global_audio/102/12592.mp3 He says the same thing. "We call the plays so that they work" Player weren't executing" Same stuff Zorn says. But maybe he is part of the problem too? Who knows... Seems like all the coaches are getting a D- so far.. |
Re: Have we heard from Sherman Smith since his hiring?
he doesnt even make the calls on game day, what exactly do you want him to say?

" Well Dangit, if our ball club could just score 1 Td in the redzone, we may win some ballgames" lol O wait thats spurrier |
Re: Have we heard from Sherman Smith since his hiring?
Wow. That ES thread is VERY disturbing.....

Re: Have we heard from Sherman Smith since his hiring?
For some reason, I'm not surprised.
We go from the 700 page playbook to the 4 page playbook... |
Re: Have we heard from Sherman Smith since his hiring?
Funny thing is, our O is finally showing some firepower. Problem is it's only till we get inside the 10. Zorn's playcalling (and I am cautious to criticize play calls usually) was terrible inside the 10 but otherwise, I think the O has done a good job of taking what the defense gives them.

Yeah, if you look especially at the Rams game, we moved the ball at will until we hit the invisible glass wall at the ten yard line. |

The passing game has improved but hasn't borne fruit yet. Start executing in the redzone and they start looking very good. |

We go from the 700 page playbook to the 4 page playbook...
That's going to end up in somebody's sig... Come to think of it, 4 pages might be pushing it. |

Come to think of it, 4 pages might be pushing it.
Yea, apparently our playbook includes only 4 redzone plays, 3 of which are runs to the left. |

That's the reaction that I was looking for; is there ANY explanation for what is said in there, backed by the interviews? We seriously dial up a number of plays in the redzone? Meaning if we hit it 4 times.. meaning we can hit it more than once in the same drive, we have a total of 4 scripted plays for it.. nothing else? wow... |
