Warthpath Correct Grammar Thread
Yes, this coming from the guy who started the drunk thread. Go figure.
I wanted to start this thread because I sometimes struggle with how to say things or the correct grammar usage a times. So for those of you who have no shame, I figured we could come here to form some kind of consensus on the rules of grammar (and punctuation) that tend to stump us. For example, if I'm saying I could care less about Tony Romo. Should it be, "I couldn't care less" or "I could care less"? In the now famous words of a fellow Warpather, what saith the mob? |
Re: Warthpath Correct Grammar Thread
...and of course I misspelled Warpath. Off to a great start.

Re: Warthpath Correct Grammar Thread
I prefer "I couldn't care less" because saying "I could care less" implies that you already care more than the minimum one could care about a given situation. Basically, that don't make no damn sense no how.

I think we're going to keep it that way...just for irony's sake When is it affect? When is it effect? Why do commas suck? |
Re: Warthpath Correct Grammar Thread
Could we merge this and the drunk thread. Now that would be priceless!

Re: Warthpath Correct Grammar Thread
I usually check my grammar guide that I've from college. I do get lazy though. You can enter a phrase in a search engine or on a word doc, and see if it comes through correctly. Also, many of the things we say are shorter versions of the whole.
I could not care less about Tony Romo. That's a step further than, I could care less. They're both correct. Don't take it from me because I've forgotten so much. This is just a general understanding. Sayeth Me. |
Re: Warthpath Correct Grammar Thread
I've seen it written and spoken both ways, that's why I've been sort of confused.
Okay, I'll go with the former. I couldn't care less about Tony Romo. If I may establish one sort of informal rule. In each example, let's try to use the Cowboys in a negative light, if possible. |

When is it affect? When is it effect? Why do commas suck?
Cool. Affect and effect trip me up too. I was taught that commas should be used in pairs, although I don't always apply that rule. |
Re: Warthpath Correct Grammar Thread
Both are perfectly valid though I prefer "could care less" because it's more efficient.

When is it affect? When is it effect? Why do commas suck?
I hope this helps because I am now more confused than I was before I read it. affect/effect |
Re: Warthpath Correct Grammar Thread
Thanks Angry,
By the way, judging by your recent sigs, I have two questions: 1) When is your Redskins romance novel coming out, and 2) Will Fabio be on the cover? |
Re: Warthpath Correct Grammar Thread
It's like this:
Dan Snyder would affect the Skins best if he sold the them. or The effect of Dan Snyder selling the Skins today would be some fans saving 8000 dollars hope that helps. Sadly I can't think of a good Cowboy bashing example :( |
