Now I Understand Why People Act Suicidal In GameDay Threads

Don't be happy, be worried: Sports fans need dose of negative

"You don't want to be in a great mood during the whole game if you really want to enjoy it," said Silvia Knobloch-Westerwick, co-author of the study and associate professor of communication at Ohio State University.

"We found that negative emotions play a key role in how much we enjoy sports."

Obviously, if you're never down, then up doesn't mean anything

High blood pressure can't be good for you...

I can't stand a Debbie Downer during a game, or one of those types that have to comment on every damn play. People that abuse the DVR rewind suck too.

Um speak for yourself, I always enjoy one of those blowouts where the game is never in question from start to finish. It's been a while since we've had one of those.

How about just staying medium? It has a way of offsetting emotions. The way our team has been playing this season it's easier to expect the worst, but at the same time hope for the best.

Isn't medium the same as apathy? It must be, because our medium Head Coach and his medium QB have caused me to not give a damn anymore.

When we get a real NFL Head Coach and a QB whose tempers are way hotter than medium then I may revert to my true manic-depressive game day personality.

Remember in December of 05 when Dallas came to town and we just dominated the game from start to finish? There hasn't been a game in the last 4 years that has come close to making me that happy again..

I would say the last game I loved from start to finish the last game of the '07 season when we dismantled Dallas 27-6.

I only enjoy the blowouts if we're the team that's winning! ;-)

More seriously, one can only enjoy it only if one feels beforehand that there is a possibility of losing. If the Redskins play a team of 3-year-olds, the Redskins cannot win, they can only lose. The blowout is only fun if there was the possibility of a loss. Otherwise it's just relief.

What are you talking about? Umm almost every game this year has been like that... Never in question from start to finish... :cool-smil but seriously yeah it's been a while since we've had a blowout in our favor.

I totally get her point. Which games did you enjoy more?

- The 35-7 win dismantling of Dallas in 2005?

- The 27-6 beatdown of Dallas in 2007?

- The Troy Vincent blocked FG, return by Sean Taylor, facemask on Cowboys adds one untimed down, Novak game-winning FG.

- The Mark Brunell-Santana Moss monday night miracle comeback with two TD bombs in the last 5 minutes.

I loved them all, but give me the last two any day. I prefer to win in dramatic fashion. I'll remember those games the rest of my life.

Sure the dramatic wins are great and a huge rush, but give me a blowout where you control the game from start to finish anyday. Just my preference.
