Send a message to the owner - - Chicago style
A Chicago columnist has suggested that the Bears' owners need a wake-up call to get busy and fire the coach and the GM. (Sound familiar so far?) How to deliver that wake-up call?
He says that a fan boycott in 1988 (or sometime around then) was effective but he has a different idea for 2009. He said that it would be economically tough for people who had spent loads of $$$ to buy tix to Bears games to just stay home and eat the cost of the ticket. So here is his suggestion: Sell your tickets specifically to Green Bay fans (for this weekend) and to Vikings' fans for the Monday night game against the Vikes on 28 Dec. He says that if Soldier Field is filled with Cheeseheads this week and then is a sea of purple on MNF - - complete with the guy and the Viking horn - - that might let the owners know that the fans have had it with the guys running the team. I'm not sure his idea will catch on, but it does have a bit of flair and panache that makes it different from holding up a sign or wearing a bag over one's head. Hmmm... Redskins have two prime-time games coming up against the Giants and Cowboys... No one at the Washington Post has thought of something that confrontational. |
Re: Send a message to the owner - - Chicago style
Any Redskins fan who sells a ticket to a cowboy's fan for a reason other than needing the money to feed their children or keep a loved one on life-support should be shot. The second ammendment gives us that right.

Re: Send a message to the owner - - Chicago style
i would rather eat the cost of one of my tickets than sell it to an opposing teams fan, especially a divisional one

Re: Send a message to the owner - - Chicago style
Gentlemen:
1. I was not advocating that Skins' fans ought to do this. 2. Let's not pretend that Skins' fans have not sold their tix to opposing fans in large numbers in the past. Please recall last year's prime time game against the Steelers... |
Re: Send a message to the owner - - Chicago style
shit some skins fans do this already, just for convenience. it makes me sick.

Re: Send a message to the owner - - Chicago style
i think a lot of people would be better off if they understood that Mr. Snyder makes a ton of money on the redskins( regardless of the on field product) and any of the shenanigans have little, to no effect on his decision making

Re: Send a message to the owner - - Chicago style
Chicago style I figure meant one of two things. It was either some sort of Al Capone type hit (that's for BHA) or we were going to send him some deep dish pizza. Mmmmmm...Deep Dish

It's better for him if the team wins. More people in the stands, more people buying concessions, more people buying merchandise, chance for home playoff games...which means more money |

the more we lose the less he makes, and the less people that buy concessions at the games he losses a lot more |

Re: Send a message to the owner - - Chicago style
somehow selling the tickets to someone else doesn't make sense to me. Why not just leave the seats EMPTY!! that makes more of a statement than still putting 94K asses in the seats so Danny can still make out on the freaking $10 beers!
