One man, one play, guaranteed to work
Let's try to have some fun as we wrap up this disaster of a season..
So we're going into the final game of the season and you get the call, you're going to be active this week vs. the Chargers. The coaches are going to design a play just for you and based on the scouting reports when they dial it up, it should work perfectly. The questions are: What position are you playing? What's the play? What's the result? Someone posed this to me earlier this year and I went back and forth between being a TE and running a seam route vs. Cover 2 for a TD or coming on a safety blitz in the "B" gap on the blindside for the sack, scoop and score.. I've got some frustration pent up so I'm blitzing! What play is called for you? |
Re: One man, one play, guaranteed to work
Wow. Great thread. This will take some thought

Re: One man, one play, guaranteed to work
I'm pulling a vintage Riggo run off tackle where I plow over a CB and LB before sprinting 60 yards for the winning score.

Re: One man, one play, guaranteed to work
ill take a snap as qback. of course im looking long. and of course im running for my life. the, after i scramble for a couple, i put my head down and run over the safety. that's one thing that really bugs me about Campbell. it seems like he is always looking for a place to get down. good thread

Re: One man, one play, guaranteed to work
I'm lining up for the field goal as the holder...and then I send everyone to one side (including the kicker) and...nevermind
I'm attacking the relatively weak Chargers' run defense with a sweep on 2nd and 16 (following a Campbell sack of course) that nets us 25 yards and sets up Matty's game winner. |
Re: One man, one play, guaranteed to work
I have to go for a short pass (5-8 yards) to Fred Davis..but wait he breaks a tackle, he breaks another tackle, holy crap he gets a block from Malcolm Kelly and he jets down the sideline for the score.
If you've been watching you've noticed that it is almost impossible to bring the guy down with just one man trying. |
Re: One man, one play, guaranteed to work
I line up as QB in the shot gun with Rock (I like his name) right beside me. They hike the ball to Rock as I act like I'm getting the snap and running backwards. As he runs the ball I keep running backwards now much faster so not to get creamed or get hurt. He scores the winning TD and as I run off the field the other guys are running by giving the great job smack from behind and they keep knocking me down.

Re: One man, one play, guaranteed to work
The kneel down is the most effective play in the NFL. The desired result is accomplished almost 100% of the time. The beauty of the play is that anyone can run it and it is guarenteed to get you no less than -2 yards per play. It is the play of champions!

Re: One man, one play, guaranteed to work
no chance of getting hit, and usually used to achieve victory! i like your style

Re: One man, one play, guaranteed to work
Gamble in a long yardage situation: overload the line with four guys to the left, including Rak and AH, to draw attention. On the right, stunt Carter and Landry, my "one man." Landry takes the o-line by surprise, gets the big hit on the QB he's been dreaming of, and we scoop and score.

Re: One man, one play, guaranteed to work
I'd be playing cornerback
I would be in charge of covering the flats the result would be a deep ball for a touchdown to Antonio Gates with Landry covering him. I would also refuse to cover the flats and do a delayed blitz and hit Rivers for a 15 yard penalty. |
Re: One man, one play, guaranteed to work
flea flicker..duh..lol

Re: One man, one play, guaranteed to work
make me the HB...I formation strong side...44 lead...I'm one on one with the safety...low fake like I'm trucking him before spinning off as his head is down... race to the endzone (I would be the fastest back on the team)!

Re: One man, one play, guaranteed to work
i'm a safety in for a kick off, i catch it in the back of the endzone, i take it 109 yards to the house throwing two massive stiff arms on the way there

Re: One man, one play, guaranteed to work
I'm at QB, I'm calling the plays. We win 45 - 27 (Think Doug Williams SBXXII or Rypien SBXXVI). 420yds, 4TDs, 1 pick, which I threw late in the game when it was already out of hand, on purpose, so I could tackle a SD player into Never Nervous Norval and knock him on his ass to thank him for the wonderful job he did here.
