Mike Shanahan exudes firm authority, from his steely hair to the crisp lines of his gray suit to his grim pinstripe of a mouth. It was evident in his introduction as head coach of the Washington Redskins that he has been empowered to reorganize a flawed command structure, and that the final say over the team will be his.
