Rogers tendered-whines about it
Redskins Insider - Carlos Rogers isn't happy with tender
"I hate it, man," Rogers said tonight in a phone interview. "That's all I'm going to say. I really don't want to say too much right now. But I don't like it." As a restricted free agent, Rogers would have become unrestricted, enabling him to leave for any team, if Washington declined to tender him. But with the tender offer, the Redskins retain the right of first refusal if another team offers Rogers a contract. Placing a first-round tender on Rogers might dissuade other teams from pursuing the five-year veteran because they would owe the Redskins a first-round pick as compensation for signing him. "They know they got me for cheap" because of the restriction, Rogers said. "Of course, they're going to use it. They're going to use what they got to keep me here cheap. If you want me there, you could show me. Tendering me is not showing me.
Plays like a 3rd rounder, talks like a Hall of Famer. I hope someone else is stupid enough to sign him to a tender and he goes. I wish they would have tendered him at a 2nd round level so a team would have been more likely to sign him.. |
Re: Rogers tendered-whines about it
This is a good thing. The inmates aren't running the asylum. There was one correct football move here and the Redskins made it.
Hopefully someone will give us a first for this underperformer. |

Re: Rogers tendered-whines about it
Carlos never has been the brightest bulb on the tree.
Did he somehow think the Redskins wouldn't tender him? Maybe he expected them to bake him some cupcakes and say "why don't you do what is best for Carlos. Have a good one buddy! Best of luck!" |

Hopefully, both of those things will happen. |

Someone get Al Davis on the phone, stat!! LOL. |
Re: Rogers tendered-whines about it
Carlos has been a "Bust" since we drafted him in the first rd! He has the worst hands of any CB in the league. I hope he leaves anyway, It's time to cut the dead weight around here!

Re: Rogers tendered-whines about it
Carlos seems to turn on a dime, one moment he's positive, saying all the right things then something happens and he snaps.
Many of the players that are unrestricted are not happy with the situation they're in. Rocky McIntosh has vented about his tender as well. Looks like a few are not going to get off on a good foot, but maybe things will change by the time real competition starts. |
Re: Rogers tendered-whines about it
I'm with wilsowilso - did Rogers really think that he wouldn't be tendered?
It seems that he does not realize that he actually got a good deal, given the circumstances. |
Re: Rogers tendered-whines about it
I think, minus the int's, Carlos is a very good corner, but he is not the sharpest from watching Redskin Nation interviews. He is just responding from a basic instinct, and will deal with it once it is clearer to him.

To be fair to Carlos, I wouldn't say he was a bust. He is a starting quality cornerback and he may have the best pure coverage skills of the corners on our team. And if you look back at that draft, Rolle, Pac-man and Rogers were the top 3 corners. Now Rolle failed as a corner but has saved his career as a safety. So Rogers was the best pick of the three for the position that we targeted. Now, he has definitely underperformed as a corner taken 9th overall and I am convinced that if he held on to some of the balls that hit his hands, we would have won more games since he has been here. |

He undoubtedly was looking to be tendered the same as Jason Campbell, but to think they weren't going to tender him at all and just let him walk is warped thinking. He should have known he had it coming, just a matter of what level. |
Re: Rogers tendered-whines about it
The 1st round tender is just a starting point for negotiations correct? If offered a 2nd rd pick for Los I bet the FO takes it...
