Yeah the guy went to Landon for high school, and grew up in Chevy Chase just blocks from where I was raised and my mom still lives. Both only 22 years old, set to graduate in a few weeks. Terrible.

Re: UVA Lacrosse Player Charged in Slaying of UVA Lacrosse Player
A friend of mine sent me this article, which I thought was outstanding. I believe I attended a school on the list in the article (George Hughley's high school's arch rival), and I'm pretty sure the author did as well. This a great perspective on the sport of lacrosse and culture surrounding it.

Re: UVA Lacrosse Player Charged in Slaying of UVA Lacrosse Player
Seems like a fair perspective of the culture, from those that I know who played it it seems pretty spot on as well. A few of my friends after HS had played in HS and/or college and honestly if they weren't friends I'd have probably thought that they were douchebags. Def a lot of spoiled kids whose parents would rather throw money around to fix issues with their kids and either give in to their demands or ignore that their kids are little shits. Either it's easier for them to deal with their kids that way or they're living vicariously enough through their kids' accomplishments (not likely if they can shell out that money for it, unless they always wanted to be athletic but werent) that they think that it's fine.
I never got why lacrosse got so into the "bro" culture.. I guess they think that tapping into each other and being mostly white suburban made it cooler than football to them. |

A lot of them are real D-Bags but some are cool. When I worked in NOVA we had an intern in my office whose family was really wealth. He was a nice guy but he had no work ethic. Literally never came to work on time and when things got busy in the office it look he want to cry because he couldn't handle any type of pressure. I pretty much felt bad for the kid, he basically had everything but really nothing that mattered. He realized he could not stand on his own feet and it crushed him.

He did that it's his fault. That's sad. |

Oh no doubt it's his fault regardless of circumstances and/or surroundings. Just saying that the culture is conducive to selfish attitudes. |
