Re: Feeling good about yourself?
from the site:
You will need to work 9.87 years in order to make JaMarcus Russell's annual salary. ;) |
Re: Feeling good about yourself?
I might be a loser relative to these guys but so are they next to my boys Billy G, Warran B, and Larry El.

Well if I'm correct he is a FA and not playing for any team right now so we all are making more than him. |
Re: Feeling good about yourself?
I think he is guaranteed 3mill this year, I don't know how that gets paid out, but he ain't walking around looking for a handout yet.

Re: Feeling good about yourself?
say do football players collect unemployment if fired?

They're not fired, they're laid-off. Unemployment policy varies from state to state. I would think they are entitled to the benefit if the money isn't still trickling in after having been released. If the Skins still owe you 1 million and they're going to pay you half now and half next year I don't think you qualify...in any case I'm not sure the check they'll get from the state will help pay 1% of their bills. |
Re: Feeling good about yourself?
I was under the impression that guaranteed money was paid up front as a lump sum, and only divided into yearly increments for salary cap accounting purposes. Not 100 percent on that though.

Signing bonuses yes, but the way all the commentators spoke it sounded like he was being paid 3mill this year regardless. I don't really know either though. |

It all depends on what the player's contract says...if it doesn't say "all money owed must be payed in full upon termination of contract" it certainly will be and won't trickle in. |
Re: Feeling good about yourself?
Urban Meyer made my 2009 annual salary in .95 Tebow TD's. LOL. For every Gator win, he earns almost quadruple my current annual take. That's some perspective for ya. Sheesh.
Joe Mauer makes almost twice my annual salary.... per game. OMG. |
