I'll save some of you the trouble of posting here with the following "Who cares about the Bills and Bears?! Why the hell are we talking about them on a Redskins message board!" |

I know! The nerve! This is taking precious time from the constant mindless bashing of Moss and Haynesworth. [/sarcasm] :smashfrea |

So which is more interesting: the article, or the desire to respond sarcastically to the secondary comment?
Personally, I gotta say I am far more tempted to comment on the second part. but instead: I aint got nothin' to say 'bout nothin' that ain't bout the Redskins,or politics, or super happy fun, or monsters, or ... |

Ahem, as one of the dudes who ripped Rainy for linking to his blog about the Raiders, I feel the need to make a distinction here.
It makes sense for us to discuss other teams here on this board, especially as it pertains to news items affecting those teams. But we don't need bloggers from every end of the internet linking to their stories providing opinions on the playoff chances of other teams. I think the general membership cares to discuss news items pertaining to other teams. Such as Cushing being suspended. But nobody cares to discuss a blogger's analysis of the Seahawks' playoff chances, for example. |
Re: I Thought Only Former Redskins Complained About the Current Players
Sayers is probably right, Chicago won't win the NFC North and I doubt they get a wild card spot. Urlacher is a shell of his former self, he's one of my favorite players but the past few seasons for him have been lackluster and last season was a bust with his wrist. It's wierd when old players from a team publicly criticize current players a la, Riggins ripping on Portis, Sayer/Butkus ripping on Urlacher and the Bears, I know it has a lot to do with what players now make moneywise compared to what they made then, Sayers career earnings was $275,000, the Bears don't have a player on their roster making less than that last season.

Old time players were total G's.. dirty nasty, underpaid, tough sons of bitches.
That being said they don't work as hard, aren't scrutinized as much, nor had to worry about being called out for not being there in April. |

He has been airing interviews about alot of the 1972 guys. I was sitting in on a conversation with alot of those players recently and one of them complained about the lack of discipline from the current players. A few mintues later, the stories were flying about the drinking and the mischief. Then one of the people involved turned to the player who made the lack of discipline comment and said, "and you said the older teams had discipline". This did cause a chuckle with the group. |

Re: I Thought Only Former Redskins Complained About the Current Players
Thank you for the welcome.
I am a lifetime Steeler fan. My sports room is painted yellow with black trim. I also do like the Redskins and was even a season ticket holder until just a few years ago. The other weekend I was witness to 4 of the 72 guys hanging out with Bruce Allen. At the end of the time, I became the photographer with them. Since this was the second time I have done this recently, I got a little tired of telling them to say "Redskins" before I shot the picture. So, as I was snapping the picture, I told them to say "Go Steelers". One of them (don't remember which one) commented on it. I responded that I really wanted to say "Go Cowboys" but the words could not come from my lips. Again, if you pm me, I will email you the link to a picture I posted online of the 5 of them sitting around the table (you will also see my empty chair). Actually, it was 6 of them, because Sweat Pea came down just to see everyone again. |
