Rookie 1st round pick signings
Discuss the rookie 1st round pick signings here.
Unfortunately the first chip to fall is a Cowgirl: Dez Bryant deal is done | ProFootballTalk.com |
Re: Rookie 1st round pick signings
Well it only makes sense. Cowboys open Training Camp tomorrow, a week before most teams because of the HOF game. SO it makes sense that they get their draft picks signed earlier than most
Many more will fall before next week ends, and there may be a few that miss the first 3 or 4 days of camp, but they will sign. |
Re: Rookie 1st round pick signings
This is totally objective, but seriously, I think he was the most giant douchebag in the entire draft, however, the Cowboys drafted him.
It was almost like I wasn't surprised. Cowboys aren't shy about taking total pieces of human garbage. The talent might be there, but they truly don't care about morals. |

Re: Rookie 1st round pick signings
Why did he miss last year?
I also don't understand the personal attack that harsh. I don't like him as a Cowboy, but he is still just a man. Wish he was a hold out! :)~ |

He broke some NCAA rules but it wasn't nearly as egregious as you're making it out to be. |

He didn't pull a John Elway on Dallas |
Re: Rookie 1st round pick signings
Shit if we didn't have such a need on the O line I would have hoped for Dez Bryant. I watched him all through college and the kid is nasty.

Re: Rookie 1st round pick signings
I was pissed when the Cowgurls got the best reciever in the draft. This guy is a serious talent, but his ego, personality could be his downfall. Still no reason he should have slid that far in the draft.

Re: Rookie 1st round pick signings
Well Wiki'ed him and the reason he missed his last year at school was because of innappropriate contact all be it a meeting of some kind with Deion Sanders, he also has no criminal charges or record so I don't understand the comment earlier other than he is a Cowboy. I to would have welcomed Dez as a Redskin.

Re: Rookie 1st round pick signings
Dez lied to the NCAA. He was told when the contact with Deion first came to light, that if he just told the NCAA what happened, he would have not been suspended. But he stuck to his guns and denied the contact.
NCAA found out that he lied, and they suspended him for the season. Just another in a bevy of agents targeting talented college players. Like what has come to light with Reggie Bush and the sanctions and probation of USC for 4 years. You know there is something wrong at USC when Reggie Bush is now the "bad apple" but OJ Simpson isn't. And that is the only knock on Dez Bryant I am aware of. Other than that he seems ok. Just look at the contract numbers for a first rounder who is arguabley the best WR in the draft. 11.8 million over 5 years with only 8.5 mil gaurateed. Very friendly to the club for a first rounder. He sent a signal with that contract that he wants to get on the field and not miss a day of camp. So far no complaints. I know all the hype is surrounded arounf Bryant in Dallas, but they still have to sign thier second rounder, Sean Lee. And that is the guy I think was the best pick of the Dallas draft. Kid has an unstoppable motor. |
Re: Rookie 1st round pick signings
Yeah, I thought DBryant was a trouble maker at first, but clearly he wants to play and prove himself. And it sounds like he has the talent to do it. Sonofab****. Ah well, Orakpo, Osi, and TCole will have to get Romo on the ground before he knows what hit him.

Hate to post this cause he's a cowgurl.
Well I abstained from posting it because he was a second round pick, and the thread seemed dedicated to first rounders only. |
