John Lynch to be released
ESPNNews just said the Bucs are expected to release safety John Lynch. Your thoughts?
|
for the right money, he'd be a great pick-up. he still has the skills and he's got character, something our team has been lacking. he's be a great mentor to a rookie safety from miami!
|
Its to bad he's not gonna want to play for free, because we don't have anymore money.
|
I'd rather stick with our current safeties and possibly add Taylor to the mix.
I like the MO of obtaining younger talent. |

Releasing Trung, Moore, and Chamberlain will bring us 3 million further under the cap. He's a good veteran player, so I could see the Gibbs going after him. If they do, it's probably either Winslow or a trade down in the draft... |
I agree with Matty on this one...by the way, what's the latest with Stubblefield and Russell going to the Bucs? They already have Del Cowsette, are they just trying to load up on Redskins DTs? Not the soundest strategy
|
Why would they release Lynch? Isn't he still fairly young? Seems strange that they'd let a guy like him go without compensation. If his cap number is too big, why not restructure?
|
lynch is 30 something hes not young (for the NFL).

Were gonna be like the Ravens a few years ago, having to release half our team. To me there's no more money to be signing people. Plus we still have to sign our 1st round pick, and you know he's gonna hold out, thinking he can pry out a lot of money from the undiciplined negociating of dan synder. I sure would do that. |
I think John Lynch would be an excellent pickup.

Personally I would love to get both lynch and Sapp for the right price. If you think about it, that is 2 of the 3 people who rebuilt that defense down there in tampa. They would definately help the skins. Lynch could be shifted to Strong Safety, we either let go of Ohalette or sign him DIRT CHEAP. We draft Taylor to start at FS that would be some major debt in the secondary. With Griffin and sapp causeing havoc in the middle Daniels comming off one end, also either lavar or washington blitzing from the other side would be a major headache for any offensive coordinator.
I know most of you say that it would never happen but how many of you would have guessed that Champ would be gone, Portis would be here along with brunnel ?!! ;) Personally I just dont't feel confortable with giving the starting DT job to Noble who is comming off of a normally career ending injury. And we need to do something with the eagles getting Kearse and cowboys hot after Wiley a d-line that can cause havok is a must on a championship team :) |

Well the evil cowboys got to Sapp first. Who's your second choice?? |

John Lynch can play safety in the NFL at the highest level of the game. He's shown that; it's not a projection or an estimate; it's a fact.
The Redskins need to upgrade their talent at safety. Anyone who thinks that Bowen and Iffy can play at anything more than 75% of the effectiveness of John Lynch needs some serious therapy. I'm not questioning the hustle and the effort and the good intentions of the safeties on the team last year. I'm saying that if they gave anything near their maximum effort, then they are placeholders at the position and the the answer to the problems. If Lynch can fit in under the Skins' cap for the next two years, they should sign him immediately - - if not sooner. |
The sapp thing may be just a rumor but if so someone with a big body maybe bring back stubblefield.
