I think I found the next Tom Brady..
Ricky Stanzi QB, Iowa, I believe will be the next Tom Brady. Why?
If you look at their stats they are almost identical to when Brady was in college, let me list off some of their similarities: - Both played in the Big Ten - Both have almost identical winning records - Both led their teams to major bowl wins and were named MVP - Both have the same knock on them coming out of college to the pros; "Good arm, highly accurate, highly intelligent, frail framed, winning QB's" - Both are 6'4, 210-ish lb's - Both have alright, but not highly touted NFL, receivers to throw to in college - (Even though Stanzi still has a few more games to play) their touchdown to interception ratio is almost identical. - they both take what the defense gives them. - they both played in NFL systems in college - they both are graded in the later rounds of getting drafted - they both kind of look alike Now is Ricky going to be exactly like Tom Brady? No most likely not, but theres definitely a good chance that he ends up being almost as good, and he's definitely worth a draft pick in the 2nd round range IMO. And being that Shanahan right now isn't too satisfied with McNabb we may take a chance on a guy like this in the draft, especially if we're looking at all these other college QB's right now (Locker,Luck). The one thing Stanzi is which Brady isn't; More mobile, he runs a 4.8 forty. |
Re: I think I found the next Tom Brady..
Well, like I said in the other thread, I am a Hawkeyes fan so I try to watch all their games. stanzi is a solid QB who has improved but he doesnt have the strongest arm and he's really not all that mobile. Plus he has played with some great OL in front of him. I definitely wouldn't take him in the 2nd round, I don't know how much upside he has honestly. But if he's sitting there in the 5th, sue would love to take a look

Re: I think I found the next Tom Brady..
^ like I said his arm isn't great, but then again that was a knock on Brady coming out of college, so again, they're similar and I think he'll do just fine.

Re: I think I found the next Tom Brady..
If he is graded out as a late round pick, why would we take him in the 2nd?
Like SS said, if he's available in the later rounds, I'd take him. I think next year's draft could be very good qb depth wise, and even if McNabb resigns, we need somebody to groom once it's time to let McNabb go. I think we should take our qb of the future in next year's draft. |
Re: I think I found the next Tom Brady..
I am 100 percent behind giving Ricky a chance. He also passes the Parcells QB checklist.

Too bad we don't have a second round pick....or a third round pick

Is this Sue one of our talent scouts? |
Re: I think I found the next Tom Brady..
stanzi has never overly impressed me. solid college qb, nothing more. could be a career backup in the nfl.

Should be, but you know how it is with gender discrimination in the scouting field... |

Re: I think I found the next Tom Brady..
Again this is great if you have a young first round or second round QB on board. Otherwise it's foolish to pin your hopes on an inaccurate 5th round QB.
