Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
With all the injuries suffered last week and this week, opportunities for young players will happen. My guess is Austin and Davis will get promoted from the PS (finally) and possibly Cook. Riley will probably play since Rocky is hurt, same goes for Barnes since Rogers is hurt. I'm actually excited to see these young players show what they can do.

Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
I didn't think Barnes played that well today. He was in coverage on multiple passes they completed in our secondary. That's just my opinion though.
And today was the first day in which Joey Galloway actually made a positive impact for our team. I wonder if this means they will keep him in the lineup for the rest of the season rather than see what Austin has. Armstrong didn't have too good of a game today, one of his receptions hit the ground but luckily the refs didn't catch it and the Titans were out of timeouts so they couldn't challenge it, but he also had a couple drops that we really needed. I'm hoping these young guys get a shot to prove what they can do but if they don't I won't be suprised. With Portis likely out next week as a precaution, Torain still out, Simpson probably done for the year, I would def. be suprised if we didn't see James Davis on the roster for Minny. We'll see what they do on the o-line too, I can see Hicks coming back next week but I'm not sure I want him in the lineup. Same with Rabach. I guess we'll see what happens this week. There are a lot of injury questions with this team, so some decisions need to be made. |
Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
I thought Armstrong caught that one, and there wasn't enough to overturn it anyway.

Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
I've said it before, but it is an unfortunate situation that injuries are what has to happen in order for young players to get a chance here. Hoping they make the best of this.

Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
I like the idea of getting to see some of the young guys, but I don't like seeing all the injuries today. The Oline looked better today with the mix of guys playing.
Our safeties sux BTW. Other than Landry we need some new guys back there. |
Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
Now that Russell is hurt, I wouldn't seeing Lendy Holmes back. He's playing in the UFL for Sacramento.

Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
banks had a nice grab.....i like montgomery @ center over rabach. Armstrong is solid. Lets see what perry riley is made of......k. Williams is proving himself......we need to draft a RT and C in the 1st two rounds. We are moving in the right direction....also...we have more wins than all of last year!!!

Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
The problem is Snyder, Allen and Shanahan have a win now mentality. They need to realize that this team isn't good enough to make a Super Bowl run. Best case for this team is what? Make a wild card and go home in the first round? And that's if everything goes right. I've said this over and over but I'd get as many young guys on the field now as possible and clean house when the season is over.

Get them the experience now so they get a head start for next year. Playing old wr's on a average to below average team that needs youth makes no sense. |

The thing is Rocky shouldn't even be playing inside. No way is be big and sturdy enough to be playing inside backer in a 3-4. I don't understand why Blades and Riley aren't playing inside and move Rocky outside. |

I don't think Shanahan is the rebuilding type. While we got our wish of having good football people running this organization, we got one that wasn't going to blow everything up. |

I think management is aware that they have to get rid of players like Rabach, Daniels, Galloway, Holliday, Hunter Smith, Carter, etc. Right now they are like "rental" players. I recall saying that the right side of the OL needed to be shuffled and some said with who? Well guess what? It worked for one game and hopefully will be good for the rest of the season. Rabach and Hicks needed benching, but in this case was due to attrition. |
Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
Well I wouldn't say that the only reason our offensive line looked good today was the switching up; they were run-blocking effectively before AND after the injuries. The eagles have a good defensive line - the giants are having a real tough time running the ball right now, and I would say that's the main reason the line looked so much better today.
And you guys really have to have more faith in the coaching staff. They see the young guys playing in practice every day. I doubt kyle shanahan is thrilled to have galloway involved so much in the passing attack, but if he's our best option to win then I think it's the right move to play him over, for example, terrance austin. Also, there's much less of a distinction than you might think between "win now" and "rebuilding." |

Carter would be relevant right now if we were still in the 4-3. |
