Wake Forest coach gives player a kidney
Wake Forest Demon Deacons baseball coach Tom Walter donates kidney to player Kevin Jordan - ESPN
I thought this was awesome. When asked about his decision to donate, the coach said: "When we recruit our guys, we talk about family and making sacrifices for one another," Walter said before the operation, according to USA Today. "It is something we take very seriously. I had the support of my family, Wake Forest and my team. To me it was a no-brainer." Not too often you see that kind of follow through on recruiting-speak by a coach. Hats off to both the coach and player. |
Re: Wake Forest coach gives player a kidney
Any news on when the NCAA will term this a an "extra benefit" and revoke the kids remaining eligibility?

Hahaha. Seriously. |
Re: Wake Forest coach gives player a kidney
Unless the coach gave each of his players a kidney, this is blatant favoritism!
Seriously, great story and a great man this coach is. |
Re: Wake Forest coach gives player a kidney
I was listening to Czaban/Pollin on the Sports Reporters when I was in the gym about an hour and a half ago, and they mentioned this story. It was like a 30 second blip on their show... And they proceed to spend about 5-7 minutes discussing Kim Kardashian and her $1000 birthday dinner in NYC with her NBA boyfriend Kris Humphries.
Yet another statement about how our focus in general as a country is sooooo misguided. |

Internal organs are illegal to sell. |
Re: Wake Forest coach gives player a kidney
These are the kind of stories which need more publicity.
