A New Revenue Stream For Danny Boy

I can't believe he didn't think of this one before someone else did.

The Atlanta Braves have added a "Delta Miles Medallion Parking Lot" near their stadium. To be allowed to park there - - and pay for the parking; it's not free - - you have to have a Delta Airlines Medallion Card and have a mileage rating. The Braves collect the parking fee plus they collect a sponsorship deal from Delta Airlines.

Coming soon to FedEx Field...

Re: A New Revenue Stream For Danny Boy

Danny tried to do the Redskins credit card as the only way to pay for season tickets until MasterCard told him to chill.

Delta might have been the one that came up with that idea though.

Re: A New Revenue Stream For Danny Boy

Danny boy is treading water now with his current fanbase. It would behoove him to steer clear of any money schemes until this franchise is winning. He already is charging people for a playoff team, yet fails to deliver any resemblance of a competitive team.

I'm still amazed the fanbase puts up with the crap and pays for it still. Being loyal to the Skins doesn't mean you have to squander a crap ton of cash to a money grubbing owner.

I'm still amazed that you are continuing with the charade of being a Skins fan. Not saying that you have to go along with everything the team does but you hate everything. But that's what being a Skins fan now a days is all about right ?

Oh yeah, did they raise the ticket prices or something ? I didn't think so but you're smart enough to figure that out.

To be clear, this isn't actually a new revenue stream for the Redskins. It's just speculation by Old Man Mudge

The Skins previously had one of the highest ticket prices on the market, yet fielded a shitty product. After both playoff appearances, Danny did indeed raise the prices of tickets.

I hate everything? Really? Is that why I love the fact that Shanny and Bruce are in control of this team? Is that why I love the direction this team is headed? Is that why I love how the discipline being shown is the correct thing to do? Yeah, how about stop talking out of your ass. I'm critical of this team, but it has done nothing in the past 12 years to give it that free pass you are expecting it deserves.
Whay are you even a fan?
Why are you a fan? I was born in NC with the Redskins being the closest team around. (long before the panthers were here)

So let me get this straight, you two want me to pay our shitty owner gobs of money for a terrible product currently? Is that what being a real fan is about? I love people that question people's fandom because they aren't doing what the other sheep choose to do. Sorry, just because you chose to shell out 5k (or more) on tickets doesn't mean you are a bigger fan than me. If anything, it shows I'm a smarter consumer than most of the people that do. It's funny, my co-worker right down the hall has season tickets and he agrees with me. :)

The ticket prices are overpriced. They've doubled in face value since Snyder has took over.

Don't take my word on it. One person who've I've found that has more definitive knowledge on Fed-Ex, tickets, and game jerseys is a guy named Mark the Homer from Extremeskins. Dude, is a absolute guru when it comes to anything related to Fed-Ex field and tickets. To a point where I wonder if the guy sleeps with a media guide under his pillow....lol
When Snyder took over, some of the lowers were going for $55. So $109 is almost double.

The endzone clubs, priced by Mr. Cooke, were $99 each. That includes tax. They were hiked so much after Snyder's arrival, the team had to eventually tear the seats out.

The last price hike for downstairs was from $79 to $109 - nearly 40%. I think that much of a increase discounts any advantage we might have regarding the number of years between price hikes.
PRESS RELEASE: Redskins Announce No Ticket Price Increase, Full Refund Policy for Season Ticket Holders for 2011 Season
Somebody made this comment in regards to ticket prices on a "Justification of 2011 Season Tickets".
Justification of 2011 Season tickets
...I just like knowing I can go to any game I want and have first dibs on playoff tickets if we ever get a home playoff game. Plus, if the team becomes good again, prices are going to sky rocket and you will not want to be buying on the secondary market then.

lol ...people say this all the time. "The prices will skyrocket."

No. The prices will not skyrocket. The reason for that is because they've already skyrocketed in terms of face value. In fact, both of the huge mark-ups over the past 11 years were immediately after playoff runs. We're paying for a playoff team already - every year.
So here we are charging people for a playoff caliber team, yet what have we done the past 12 years? Won a division? Conference? Super Bowl? Squeaked into the playoffs twice? That's it? That's what those high prices are for?

This is exactly why I made the statement about Danny boy is treading water with fans right now. Hell, half the time on big games (pittsburgh, eagles, dallas, giants) you'll notice the stadium has a crap ton of their fans as well. Lower those pricey tickets and you'll have people more inclined to come out as opposed to paying supreme dollar and knowing your team is going to get dropped kicked in the mouth.

Another fun fact: The Washington Redskins have one of the worst home field records this past decade. The only other team in the NFC with a worst home record is Detroit. :(

NFL.com news: Redskins' FedEx Field doesn't deliver home-field advantage
Washington hasn't done much winning home or away in recent years. The road record is 33-52 since 2000. FedEx Field doesn't offer much for game-day experience. Traffic is always terrible, parking is expensive, and the nearest subway station is about a mile away. Even coach Mike Shanahan, after the home opener, chimed in on the issue: "I'm not used to this traffic, so it's a little bit unusual. I do feel like we played on the road."
Ticket prices don't concern me personally. The way I figure it is if you don't want to pay the price, don't go. Simple supply and demand at play. Besides, whether the team is a playoff team or not doesn't drive ticket prices. Where do the Skins stack up against the rest of the league?

Re: A New Revenue Stream For Danny Boy

Ive never seen Snyder as greedy businessman wanting to stick it to the Redskins fans to make a quick buck. Never that. I think in terms of business, he is one of the brightest owners in the league.

Ive always viewed Snyder as a huge effing Skins fan who wants nothing more to win, but his damn ego has gotten in the way, thinking he can make smart football decisions. He has been part of decisions that lead this to an embarressing bottom that we are now digging ourself out of. With the hiring of Bruce and Shanny though he showed maturity that he can change for the better and I think its kinda time to lay off the bashing.

I think that is where you'd determine the true answer. How much of everything else in the free world has skyrocketed in price since 2005? Oil being the biggest thing, which then affects the price of food and affects the price of other businesses. Why would it not affect sporting events? Music events that I attend on an annual basis have tripled in price since about five years ago.

The truth is, it doesn't matter how good or bad that team is, fans are still flocking to the games year in and year out. Until they simply decide to stop spending the money on the tickets, they really can't blame Snyder. Nobody has forced them at gun point to purchase tickets.
