Heyer: Not at Practice

Heyer not at practice because his agent says not to.

IMHO Heyer is a better Guard than Tackle, and he ain't much at Tackle other than a Sack/TFL waiting to happen. Probably only a paper thin difference between he and Rabach as far as skills go. Since he doesn't want to practice with the team, I hope both he and Rabach are out the door.
Stupid Agent.

I was wondering where heyer had been and why we have not heard anything from him. Is he under contract still with the team or is he a free agent?

The blog makes it sound like he's not signed with the Skins so why should he work out with them. Its not like he's not working out, he's working out with other players in Miami. This is a non-issue.

Re: Heyer: Not at Practice

Yeah I don't care if he's working out with the players or not. He could get hurt and kill any chance he has of getting resigned.

In fact that applies to all players. These workouts are all rosy and great until someone blows their knee out.

Re: Heyer: Not at Practice

These practices are more 7 on 7 type deals. Lineman don't really get to work until training camp. In the meantime the overwhelming majority of their work is lifting and pylometrics, especially those that help with footwork. Besides Heyer isn't under contract so he doesn't really need to take the risk.

problem is, he gets a lot of playing time...hence the same ole rumblings every year: Our Oline sucks. I wouldnt mind if is stays, but wouldnt care if he left. We just need better play and players at several positions along the line. I think once the NFL free agency starts we will see more money spent with that group than any other.

Chico, it's not like he's our 3rd best option and we're tossing him in for the hell of it. He's our best backup option.

I would not be out there either without a contract. One bad step and he could be sitting at home with no money and no deal for a year.

Yes. You really can't blame Heyer at all for not participating.

Re: Heyer: Not at Practice

I'm all for continuity and always like hearing how the Skins have 90+% of their players at the OTA's, but there is several things to remember...

1- OTA's are voluntary.
2- This is a strange year with the whole CBA issue's.
3- If Heyer is due a contract there is no need to go out and injure himself.

People will bring up Grossman, but with him he'll get picked up as most likely a second stringer. He wants to start and he knows KS loves him and respects him so his best chance of starting is right here.
