Will the Extra Rest Help?
What's your take on veterans getting more time to recover at the cost of getting rookies caught up to speed?

Re: Will the Extra Rest Help?
Not only a double edge sword, but I believe also an over estimation on his part

Re: Will the Extra Rest Help?
It may be a question of how much time veterans have had to drink beer and eat cheeseburgers without hitting the track every day.
Gonna be a lot of winded linemen this fall. Teams with good depth will probably fare better. |
Re: Will the Extra Rest Help?
It will help only if you're a solid team like the Packers and Steelers. It won't help a shitty team like the Redskins because the players haven't practiced together and probably don't know the playbook as well as they should.

But didn't the players voluntarily get together and practice? |
Re: Will the Extra Rest Help?
I think the extra rest could do the players right. The offseason had become a full-time job in itself. You need time to recharge the batteries physically as well as mentally.

Re: Will the Extra Rest Help?
It will help the inujured players for sure. Maybe Malcolm Kelly can survive a preseason too.
|
Re: Will the Extra Rest Help?
I think it is all relative. ALL the players got extra rest so it shouldn't offer any real advantage in any real sense. It does directly hurt the rookies though. I think it is a net loss for quality and youth in the league for this season.
I think it is also pretty certain that there will be a good amount of young players available into the season...GMs have the most important season in front of them that they've ever had. |
Re: Will the Extra Rest Help?
It helps to heal, I just hope we don't run into half of the team having hamstring issues again
|
Re: Will the Extra Rest Help?
Will the Extra Rest Help? Not at the expense of poor conditioning.
|
Re: Will the Extra Rest Help?
There's always been a month break before players go to training camp anyway. Plenty of time for any offseason "conditioning" to be lost as a lot of guys typically go on vacation for one last getaway before the grind of the season starts.
The extra time off when the season ends to heal before any offseason work starts is where the benefit may lie. |
Re: Will the Extra Rest Help?
Writer seems to think the well structured teams will suffer the least. Old fashioned football, how about that!!
