NFL Player Holdouts - 2011
So far:
DeSean Jackson (who knows why...) Frank Gore (demanding new contract) It's a relevant topic but did not want to clutter up the FA threads with it. |
Re: NFL Player Holdouts - 2011
Chris Johnson and Osi Umenyiora may also be on that list
|
Re: NFL Player Holdouts - 2011
Osi Umenyiora threatening, saying he's "ready to hold out". Money.

I don't blame him. He's currently very underpaid for what he's done on the field. They need to lock him up. |
Re: NFL Player Holdouts - 2011
yes, they need to pay that man his money. He is working for chump change, especially when you think that santana moss is making quadruple your salary......and your name is desean jackson........

Re: NFL Player Holdouts - 2011
Jackson is obvious. Dude's a massive playmaker, one of the most electric players in the game, and he's still on his rookie deal and getting paid 550k this season. I'd be pissed too if I were him.

Yup , frankly he's a good End and a great pass rusher but that's it...not very good against the run and still has 2 years left on his contract....let him sit....FH! |
Re: NFL Player Holdouts - 2011
This is not the year for holdouts.

And good luck for him trying to get paid by the Eagles. Don't see that happening. |
Re: NFL Player Holdouts - 2011
DeSean is underpaid for what he's done, but he has signed a contract and should play for it...just as Haynesworth should have played after signing his. Sure he's worth more than his salary but stop crying and fulfill your obligations. Besides, at $560,000 a year, he can't afford to hold out too many days since he's being fined $30,000 a day!
Another one: Chris Johnson Twitter |

Teams will try to get the most out of a players and pay the least amount of money. Although they have to pay the guaranteed money, teams also break player contracts when they cut players. I swear, it baffles me how much normal people can relate to and sympathize with millionaire owners. When a team cuts a player, everyone says "oh it's a business decision", but when a player asks for a raise, everyone piles up on the player. I don't know much about Gore's or Johnson's situation. But Jackson has been a beast for the Eagles and deserves to be paid more. |

However, their actual pay on an "absolute" level is rather substantial, often six figures. Hence, "morals" kick in and identify said player as "selfish". But ****, some tenant breaks a lease and everyone sympathizes with the tenant against the "evil" landlord even if they totally trash the place. It's really simple, people love to talk through "principles", but they actually operate under a UTILITARIAN morals. |

He's not showing much of a work ethic or regard for his team right now...a bit Haynesworthian in a way. I have no problem if he publicly said "I deserve more money" because it's true...but show up and prove you're worthy of it. |
