Got hops?
I had a pretty decent crop this year with the hot and wet weather we had, so I thought I would show you guys some pictures.
Some people get confused by hops, they are not a grain, they grow on vines and make little buds and that is the part used in beer. This particular variety is Cascade. They can grow up to 40 feet high, mine are about 20. The big one in the foreground is about the size of your thumb. If you've ever had Sierra nevada Pale Ale you have had Cascade hops. Cool deal. Cascades are terrific hops. Yummy and versatile.

Re: Got hops?
That's pretty cool. What do you do with them? By that I mean do you brew your own beer or do you sell your crops, or both?

Re: Got hops?
I was an avid brewer at one time but havent been for years.
I usually pick them when I have a good crop and give them to guys that I know from my brewing club. |

Ounces per gallon actually.... A lot of home brew is made in five gallon batches, all of mine were. The most hops I ever used was 10 ounces and that was a fairly bitter IPA. |

Ahh yes, the fine art of dry hopping. |
Re: Got hops?
That's really cool. My brother used to do it and it seems like a too time consuming hobby for me. Plus I like instantaneous results/ payoff.
I have been thinking about chocolatiering for a while now. Maybe ill see if I can grow some cocoa beans during the summer around here. |
Re: Got hops?
Looking good bro, cascades are great little hops for refreshing brew

Re: Got hops?
