Great info. Hopefully more folks will wake up to this.

If you're that pious how did you end up in jail? If you've come to your faith inside then test it by waiting until your release to embrace it.

Ban religion in jails.

There are many, many Islamic clerics who denounce terrorism as unIslamic. For example, mainline Hanbali Muslim law states that jihad cannot include ordinary citizens nor can it include suicide.

So one sensible approach to this problem is to provide moderate clerics who will offer a mainstream rather than radical message in prisons.

Sigh. If it's not one thing it's another. I agree with Lotus in a sense. The voice these prisoners converting to Islam are mostly hearing is probably from radical Islam. We just need to ensure they hear more of a mainstream Islamic voice.

Let them out of jail and drop them off in the middles east.

My proposal above was tried at Guantanamo.

What are we going to do? Keep them in prison for spousing anti-American sentiment? Dedicate resources to monitor their activities after they get out? American prisons have always been training grounds for mischievous deviants. From these articles one thing is crystal clear to me, terrorism is a law enforcement issue not a military issue.

You can't control people's beliefs and will, only the way you live your life.

Exactly... let's try being a less shitty country with less shitty policy and then reap the rewards of less people wanting to blow us up.

well, the US prison system has always been a place where petty crooks go to become pros and network. A more work camp/vocational training type of system would at least allow those without means to be guaranteed some sort of skillset for an honest living, and those that don't want to behave... well, solitary or a prison factory line.

I'll stay out of this one, my original point stands.
From these articles one thing is crystal clear to me, terrorism is a law enforcement issue not a military issue.
Has to be a balanced approach. LE can't reach onto foreign soil to disrupt terrorist activities that are state sanctioned or sponsored. LIMITED (Spec Ops, etc.) military engagement has to be the answer here. There needs to be open intel at high levels between DoD & Federal LE community.
You can't control people's beliefs and will, only the way you live your life.
Agree 100%.
