Is it his year?
Just curious - who thinks Brett Favre may hang it up this year? I think he'll stick around for one more, but certainly wouldn't be shocked to see him say goodbye this year.
|
This was a tough year for him-first full season without his dad, brother-in-law dies in a freak accident, wife diagnosed with breast cancer. I don't think he wants to go out like he did today against the Vikings
|
The packers need to invest in another QB...Favre is getting up there in age and it shows. Lots of bad throws today. He's got couple of rings might as well retire cause the packs sure as hell ain't winning another one any time soon.
|
I think he has at least a year or two left. Wouldn't be suprised to see the Packers draft a QB to be taught by him while he is still there. I have seen Kyle Orton mentioned as a possible 2nd or 3rd round pick by them and wouldn't be suprised if it happens.

He only has one ring?? :) |
You're right he only has one and lost to Denver the second time...that's good enough i suppse.
|
#4 Retiring?
Will it depend on what happens to Sherman? A good record since taking over for Ray Rhodes, but his teams seem to peter out at the end. Losing at Lambeau in post season, like they did to the Falcons a few years back, and now to a another home/dome team would have been unthinkable for most good Packer teams.
Also, I think that Brett is so unorthodox, he may not be much in the mentor department. He is a Barry Sanders version of a QB. Great Games, Great plays, then stinko. |
I dont know, I'm sensing the end. I know he wants to stick around, and maybe one more year, but they gotta start getting someone ready to take over. I was watching the game w/ some guys and I just said " maybe he's finally lost it " after they didnt come back. Its not on me to say what he should do, I think he should do what he wants, but even if he comes back, the Packers I dont think are going to be able to win a Superbowl anytime soon.

If the Pack could upgrade the D they'll be right back in the thick of things next year.
Favre still has another two seasons in him or so. He'll be back. |
I think he may very well hang it up I think he has had enough, he look's to me like he's losing his arm strength as well.
|
Wow - if he's losing arm strength what does Brunell have! ;)
|
From what I heard on ESPN radio this morning Favre was going to announce his retirement last night in the postgame press conference, he went in to Sherman's office to tell him and Sherman had to talk him out of it and told him to take a few weeks to think about it.
With what he's gone through this year I guess it's not hard to believe. |
Yeah, they said he was very emotional and wanted to hang it up right there. In the end, I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed or retired.
|
I would love to see Favre go out on top so I really hope he comes back for one more at least.
|
Yeah, I mean yesterday was no real example of just how great of a player he is. Favre IS known to throw the errant pass here and there and once he gets rattled he kind of tosses it up for anyone.
He's one of the best to ever play the game, and it always seems that every few games or so, he gives his 3-4 interception performance. It just so happened that the playoffs is not the time or place to do so. |
