Michael Boulware
Normally I would not start a thread for just one draftee (especially for one that we won't draft), but Michael Boulware is going to be a monster. Several months ago I posted my "dream draft" and Michael Boulware was my dream 2nd round pick. Boulware is going to be an abolsutle monster. Sure Lehman, Vilma, Williams, and other LBs will be drafted before him, but I think he's the best LB in the draft.
The biggest knock on him is his small stature (I think he's 6'0), but he's got amazing speed....a BLAZING 4.42 (4.45 in recent workouts) in the 40. Most wideouts, virtually no TEs, and most RBs don't run the 40 in 4.42. I wish we still had our second rounder because he's definately worth one. |
who would you bench arrington or washington?
I'd probably move Washington to DE (the position he played in college and that he lined up at with the Colts), keep Arrington where he is, and use Boulware as an outside pass rusher. He has the speed of blitzing CB, but the size of an smallish-CB. I haven't thought it out completely, but I think a situation like that would REALLY improve our pass rush and bring tremendous speed to close on RBs that break through Cornelius Griffin and Brandon Noble.
Washington would have to put on 25 pounds to be an effective every-down DE.
He's what 250? He'd need to add about 15 lbs. He'd be good in the nickel role.
defiently not a need, besides vilma will be better, he look's like the second coming of derrick brook's.
Vilma is another very good LB and he could replace Trotter (for those of you who want Trot gone). But, I think Boulware is going to be amazing and it is a shame it is not a position of need.
He is so fast that I remember him playing some safety early in his career.
The little I saw of him and heard of him was that his production level was way down, and probably getting more attention than he deserved because of his name.
Is he related to the Boulwere (sorry about the spelling!) on the Baltimore squad?
He's Peter's brother. I don't think Mike is overrated. 4.45 is an incredible 40 time for a LB. While his 40 time isn't incredibly important, it's just an indication of how athletic the guy is.
What about this scenario: Trade the #5 pick for a mid 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder, then draft a DE with the 1st and Bouleware in the 2nd and converting him to safety.....just a thought.....
If we are going to draft a S it will be Taylor. I can't see Williams settling for a converted player with him available.
There's been talk of Boulware being converted to a safety and his 4.45-40 time certainly leads one to believe he could do it.
Michael Boulware LB Boulware (6-2 1/8, 227) ran his 40s in 4.50 and 4.47. He had a 39½-inch vertical jump, 10-foot-2 long jump, did 15 strength reps, 3.98 short shuttle and 6.52 three-cone drill. I think Boulware is the only person to run the short shuttle in under four seconds at his Pro Day (many did it at the combine). Boulware also worked out as a safety.
