That's pretty cool

He did something similar last year didn't he?
Wonder if he stays in SF? |
Re: Give it up for Braylon Edwards
This is a great way to give back to the community.

Re: Give it up for Braylon Edwards
A one-man scholarship fund. Praiseworthy.

Re: Give it up for Braylon Edwards
Great gesture on his behalf at $790,000K, better than losing that money on smoking weed like someone we know.

Re: Give it up for Braylon Edwards
Lol this must have been the inspiration for that episode of The Office. Except this time around the ending was a lot better.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott%27s_Tots
In the episode, Michael and Erin meet "Scott's Tots", a group of local teenagers whose college tuition was promised in one of Michael's grand delusions ten years prior. Meanwhile, in Michael's absence, Jim starts an employee-of-the-month program to boost morale, which Dwight sabotages.
[YT]Kzn7HAuP_aw[/YT] |
Re: Give it up for Braylon Edwards
I should be seeing this on the ESPN crawler....BUT No drug bust....didn't shoot himself in a bar.....
NO coverage Good on him for doing a GREAT thing! Note: Since his departure from the mother ship, a certain former devotee will not be forced to defend his boys from my media...assault. |

Re: Give it up for Braylon Edwards
Awesome story, seems to be a good guy. Would you guys give him a contract next year because he would be cheap and experienced? Id take him over Stallworth or someone like that.

Re: Give it up for Braylon Edwards
Washington Post ran a 3 part story this weekend about how Abe Pollin did something similar for kids at an elementary school in Suitland many years ago. Unfortunately, the results weren't entirely promising

Re: Give it up for Braylon Edwards
Better than giving back to the community than Chad Ochocinco....
|
Re: Give it up for Braylon Edwards
Impressive. This is an example of someone who gets it. Lots of respect for Braylon Edwards.

Re: Give it up for Braylon Edwards
That has to be one hell of a tax break. Other players are spending money on stupid pieces of jewelry, champagne, and god knows what else. I just hope that Braylon stays financially successful after this in part so it proves that other players can do this without going bankrupt, and of course because it's such an amazing gesture.

Re: Give it up for Braylon Edwards
Maybe we should take a look. At least for next season. He has been injured but he was good with the jets and we seem to have luck getting ex jets
|
Re: Give it up for Braylon Edwards
I will take a pass on Edwards because of the injury. I hope we draft a niced sized WR to complement Hankerson.

Agree. We are already gonna have Colston on the squad, why add another WR with knee issues? |

I doubt Colston is coming here. It would be career suicide. |
Re: Give it up for Braylon Edwards
Do good guys finish last?
|
Re: Give it up for Braylon Edwards
Guess he could use one of his scholarships to go back to college now...
[but truly a great story, rare to have a person keep his word on this sort of thing.] |
