Cowher out in Pittsburg?

i heard on fox sports radio this am,bill cowher maybe fired by the steelers,as early as this week.according to the pittsburg post gazette,he and rooney got into it big time after sunday's game.if true, anybody think grimm has a chance at being the next steelers coach?

Redskins_P 01-25-2005 02:43 PM

No way. I can't believe that for one second...

SmootSmack 01-25-2005 02:45 PM

I thought Cowher had just signed an extension earlier this year...but if he does get fired I'd think Grimm has to be choice number one, or maybe Ken Whisenhunt

And I wonder if the Niners could fire Nolan and hire Cowher...wouldn't they love to

MTK 01-25-2005 02:51 PM

The Steelers would be insane to can Cowher

Riggo44 01-25-2005 03:24 PM

There is no way this will happen! Who would the Steelers get that would be better? Grim?? I don't think so. Cowher would have to quite not to be in Pittsburgh next year.

d151b 01-25-2005 03:24 PM

they NEED to fire whoever was calling the offensive plays against the Patriots. My wife who watches maybe 4 hours of football a year watched a couple of offensive series by the Steelers, and even she was predicting their plays. Just shameful !!!

TheMalcolmConnection 01-25-2005 03:25 PM

Not only that... he would have to be the only coach to get fired after a 15-1 season EVER. They'd be crazy.

You sure you weren't smoking something this morning??? :Smoker:

I cannot possibly see this happening. Even the Dan wouldn't fire a guy after a 15-1 season and when he has been the coach for like 12 years. No way...

TheMalcolmConnection 01-25-2005 03:38 PM

You sure it was radio...?? There's no other explanation because that would be flat-out crazy. Not only that, I'm sure that everyone would love to know how Cowher handles a second season after being 15-1.

Gmanc711 01-25-2005 03:40 PM

If he gets canned in Pittsburgh there is a very serious problem with sports today.

TheMalcolmConnection 01-25-2005 03:42 PM

Agreed. NO ONE would be safe.

SmootSmack 01-25-2005 04:11 PM

Well I looked around for this story on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and this is the closest I could find

Steelers fans voice their opinions after Pittsburgh's 41-27 loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game last night at Heinz Field.
OK, Mr. Rooney, unless you like winning only regular season games or having a never-to-be-broken record of losing 80 percent of your conference championship games at home, Bill Cowher must go!

Let's move on, get a new coach and use these awesome players to their fullest advantage.

I appreciate your loyalty to Bill Cowher. Loyalty is one major component that is missing from most business relationships it this era.

However, How much longer must we deal with Coach Cowher's inability to win the big game? This man is 1-4 in AFC championships and 0-1 in the Super Bowl. All of these losses have come when Coach Cowher has arguably had the most talented team on the NFL at the time of each loss.

You own the team, and if you didn't terminate Cowher after his 6-10 season last year, or after his other three losses at home in the AFC championship game, I know you will not terminate him after this embarrassment.

Although you won't make the change, It's time for a change.
TheMalcolmConnection 01-25-2005 04:12 PM

That's the most disgusting thing I've ever read! Wow.

SkinsRock 01-25-2005 04:22 PM

Of course people are still going to be pissed off only one or two days after the loss. Give it a week or two and see if they still feel the same. A lot of teams would be pretty happy getting to the conference championship game 5 times in 12 years, even if it meant losing most of them.
Not to mention that they did have a rookie QB this year. Want to disrupt his progress? Switch coaching staffs and systems on him. We Skins fans know a little about that sort of thing, don't we?!? ;)

There is absolutely NO WAY you fire a coach after a 16-2 season.

TheMalcolmConnection 01-25-2005 04:31 PM

We most definitely do. Shit, I'd be crapping my pants if we even made the PLAYOFFS this year. That way you elitist Pittsburgh fans.
