Dr. won't clear TO for Super Bowl

from fanball.com

The News
It looks like the Eagles will have to try to win the Super Bowl without their top receiving threat. The Associated Press is reporting that Terrell Owens' doctor will not clear him to play on February 6 against the Patriots because of the risk of re-injuring his ankle. Owens has not played since suffering a broken ankle on December 19 in a game against the Cowboys. The typical recovery period for the injury, which required two screws to be inserted into the wide receiver's ankle, is eight-to-ten weeks. The Super Bowl will occur only six-and-a-half weeks after the screws were inserted.

Our View
Technically Owens can still play if the team clears him but this move is a strong indication that he will not receive clearance from anyone to participate in the Super Bowl. Without T.O. the Eagles will follow the same offensive blueprint that won them their two playoff games. That means a heavy dose of Brian Westbrook out of the backfield and Donovan McNabb distributing the ball to his other receivers without favoring any particular one.

If I ever give TO props on anything, I'll give him props for trying to be enough of a team guy to come back for the Super Bowl. Granted, I DO hate him with a passion but there's no denying that he has had a team attitude to rehabilate himself so much.

Then again, it could all be for show since he is a true self-promoter.

Well we all know that he has a bigger head then Shannon Sharp and Irving... Heck T.O plays well but when it comes down to it . When he has a good player on him he doesnt play well.
Even if he did play on SB day he would get shut down quick as hell. The pats are to strong for him. Plus the Pats wouldnt give McNabb anytime to throw to him. So I say good luck to the Eagletts

I love all the GOOD THING HE'S HURT, I wouldn't wish injury on anyone.

Injury is part of football, it happens. I will never apologize for another team having injured players, and I'll try to never use injuries as an excuse for the skins losing. I won't lie, when we played the Falcons last year, and Vick was injured, I said thank god! I didn't injure him, but I was sure as hell glad he wasn't playing against us (and we still almost lost!)

Well it looks like he's going to ignore the doctor's request and play anyway. Donovan McNabb thinks so. I think he'll get in the game. How much he will play who knows. But it may give the team a lift emotionally - and he might even be the difference for the Eagles. I think they need him to have a solid chance to win. They can win without him, but it just makes things much more complicated to defend the Eagles with Owens in there.

Risking it
Eagles trainer: Owens might try to play despite advice

I read the same thing on the espn site yesterday. But hey if he wants to mess his foot up even more. Then thats his problem....Then when he is healthy and can't run like he used to then thats his fault.

TheMalcolmConnection 01-27-2005 09:50 AM

Yup... oh well. And just like the article says, he'll be more of a distraction than anything.

How true him and his big mouth. That wont shutup. Som,ebody needs to take a staplegun to his mouth. Then stich it up with spider wire.

All systems go for Owens to play
