Around The NFL - Divisional Round
New week, new thread, let's do this.
I wonder what sort of impact this could have? Tom Brady: Josh McDaniels has “inside information” on Broncos | ProFootballTalk |

Re: Around The NFL - Divisional Round
I like the Saints going to San Fran, its outside and it would not surprise me to see San Fran pull that one off. But Alex Smith is due an Alex Smith/Rex Grossman type of game.

How are they going to enforce it? Ban Belichick from talking to McDaniels until the Pats get eliminated? |
Re: Around The NFL - Divisional Round
i wouldnt think its alot of info, alot has changed in a year.
I just want to see the Broncos stomp the Pats. |

Is it really any different than us picking up Tashard Choice right before the Dallas game and then cutting him right after? The only thing that McDaniels could give info on is the personnel. He has no idea on the defense or offense since they are revamped. Nothing he can tell that coaches can't already see on film to be honest with you. |

I'm loving this shit.... :laughing-
But any hope of Garrett actually having that type of power vanished the moment Jones showed up on the sideline during the most recent Eagles game to "advise" his head coach. At least the late Al Davis had the good sense to send his suggestions from the press box. It's hard to imagine any other owner in the history of the league who would actually feel compelled to walk up to his head coach during live action and voice his opinion.
This asshole really went down to the sideline to "advise" his head coach? This guy ran a oil surveying business, he has no idea how to run a football team. We can only hope this keeps up. I'm loving to see this as a Skins fan. |

Pats 23
Broncos 17 Texans 21 Ravens 14 Giants 28 Packers 24 Saints 31 49ERS 17 |
Re: Around The NFL - Divisional Round
wow lots on the Texans bandwagon, care to chime in why?
I think if HOU O shows up there D can easily slam the door shut on Flacco. If B-more is one and done this year the mass suicides around here will be through the roof. |
Re: Around The NFL - Divisional Round
Saints over the 49ers.
Giants over the Packers. Ravens crush the Texans. Patriots over the Broncos. |

I just love their defense and they do 2 things as good as anyone, Run the football and stop the run. Also AJ80 is a nightmare for that AVG. CB play of Baltimore.. And quite frankly I think flacco just isnt any good |

Ouch. Contract year for Megatron. I seriously don't know if you can invest a $100 million dollar contract in a WR when you have a franchise QB who'll be getting top dollar soon, and a stud DL who's already getting top dollar. I blame the Cardinals for this crap. ****ing idiot owners out there. |

I said BS!!! He wouldnt have walked up behind a coach with nads and did that. Wade yes Parcells no. |
Re: Around The NFL - Divisional Round
I cant believe that Houston has gotten this far with the QB staff that they have.
They have been playing on borrowed time. I think Baltimore's defense will put the hurt on them. |

Re: Around The NFL - Divisional Round
I like Houston because we experienced the same QB-situation at my own team this year, so I kinda feel for them. And I don´t like the Ravens that much. Still, even though I´d prefer them to win, I don´t think they´ll be able to.

Oh, and Jimmy Johnson was his teammate - - and I think they were fraternity brothers also - - at Arkansas. He did indeed run an oil service business; that is where he made the money it took to buy the Cowboys. But Jones did play the game at a fairly high level. Having said all that, I doubt that his "advice" was of any value to Jason Garrett who was probably juggling ten balls in the air at the same time. But do not make the mistake of assuming that Jerry Jones knows nothing about football the way many NFL owners know nothing about football. |
No comparison between D's and jj. Jones knows the game and has won multiple championships ds was just a lucky fan to buy the team

This will have as much impact as doing a really solid and thorough job of film work. Everything that McDaniels can offer is visible on film. Unless the Broncos have kept the same hand signal audibles that they had when McDaniels was their coach, which I know they have not, then there will be next to no impact. Just makes for more press fodder. |

I wish Baltimore would win a Super Bowl for Reed, Suggs, Boldin, Ricky Williams, but I just don't see it happening..

It's also not like they need to clear tons of cap room to pay Stafford, the guy is already the highest paid player on his team. Just means that all the depth they will have will come via the draft and be with three years or fewer of NFL service. |

Believe me, I will be the first to acknowledge that the folks who own NFL teams are intelligent people who know an awful lot about the business world - - plenty more than a thing or two. I do draw a distinction between "being smart and knowledgeable" and "knowing football" in the sense that the very rich owner can actually sit down and discuss "football" with his head coach or his assistants. The majority of NFL owners cannot do that without a lot of tolerance on the part of the coaches involved. The only two owners in the NFL that I can think of who played football at the elite college level or at the pro level are Jerry Jones and Jerry Richardson. |

He did indeed run an oil service business; that is where he made the money it took to buy the Cowboys. But Jones did play the game at a fairly high level.
Ok, so he played football some 40 years ago. What type of scouting or football operations did he run after those 40 years while he was running a oil surveying company? What type of coaching experience does he have to make personnel decisions or understand which players are going to fit which schemes? What type of film/scouting experience makes him qualified to say who's better than another? Him playing college football on a national championship team back in the 60's doesn't mean jack squat, and doesn't do anything to back up your argument he does in fact know football. Just because a person was successful in one area of their life, doesn't mean they are going to be successful in another area. Dan Snyder was awesome at the phone slamming business, but he sucks as a NFL owner. (or has in the past decade) The only years Jerry has been successful, are the years that Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells (and their talent) were there. That is no coincidence. You need to add Mike Brown to that list. He is the son of the great Paul Brown after all, and no doubt has had his share of football knowledge passed on to him. |

To amass that kind of loot does require a certain ability to succeed above all else....improvise....adapt....overcome AND fans get so little real information it is completely irresponsible to judge him on what little we see or....think we know. |

No....but it does mean you know success and how to build it in everything you do. Do you deny his success in the NFL? If I had to make a choice who gets the nod in a....football discussion between JJ and the avg fan, such as yourself. Based on spelling and punctuation alone, JJ wins is by a landslide...... |

Based on spelling and punctuation alone, JJ wins is by a landslide......
It really doesn't and no idea why you even remotely think that.(see Dan Snyder's other business ventures for proof) There is a lot of luck involved with making it big as well, but keep telling yourself it's simply a smart person knowing how to succeed. JJ should know more by now. He's had 20 years to be around coaches, game film and much much more. That said, he's still never coached and his last playing experience was over 40 years ago (much has changed). How's he going to know good footwork from bad footwork when it comes to OL/QB? How's he going to know if a WR runs a proper route? These are things you learn while you coach (and play). |

A source close to the team pointed out that Sanchez’s inability to handle mounting criticism prompted him to unfollow every Jets beat writer on Twitter earlier this season.

“They see the organization babying him,” said a Jets source. “They see him with a sense of entitlement. He’s been given all this and hasn’t done anything. They call him ‘San-chise.’ They make him the face of the organization. They gave him the captain tag. He’s not a captain. He should have never been a captain.” None of the players who spoke to the Daily News for this story agreed with Ryan’s decision to anoint Sanchez as a captain.
No thanks to trading for this guy. Nothing worse than a QB with a bad work ethic and shaky confidence. Also, seems Rex Ryan doesn't know how to spot leaders or award the correct people with captains. I suppose he's basing it off salaries. |
