The way the injury bug has hit the 'skins in the past few seasons, you never know, these guys might be starting by week 10.

Think about it, this is probably the 'skins first true, full offseason where the Shanahans have been able to focus mainly on rebuilding the team with younger guys, so, being the eternal optimist I am, you never know, these guys might be the diamonds in the rough that the 'skins need.

That's a GREAT way to spin it.

what about the sergio kindle factor? Sign em too soon, and something happens before camp, get injured, and you have to pay. Wait until right before camp to make sure they dont get hurt, then sign the dotted line. I guess its a fairly small chance that would happen anyway, but you never know.

I don't know how contracts are structured but maybe they could factor in the possibility of injury before the season starts, because there will be injuries:

Didnt see this posted yet so here. Coach Shanahan addressing media after rookie mini camp.

Coach Shanahan at 23:55 - "...the fun part about Robert, the reason why we gave up what we gave up, is that he can do some things I believe no one has done. The dropping back, play action, quarterback keeps, option, and we'll see what he is comfortable with as time goes on..."

special teams right off the bat. My concern w/him is that he sounds like a younger Rocky M. Athletic & fast, but doesn't fend off blocks well.

Re: Redskins rookie signing thread

Now that all but three rookies have signed, that leaves three guys who remained unsigned. As long as every draft pick is signed by the first day of training camp, that's all that matters.

well, with the slotting system, there's basically no chance the deals won't be done now.
well, with the slotting system, there's basically no chance the deals won't be done now.
why is it a lot of first rounders have signed then? (according to your slotting system.)

Re: Redskins rookie signing thread

Ok so question. Don't the Rookies have to be signed prior to them working out in any manditory camps? and with today being the first manditory camp week does that mean the last 2 Cousins and RG3 should be signed before they see the field?

MTK 05-21-2012 10:47 AM

because they don't need to be. and it's not my system.
because they don't need to be. and it's not my system.
if that's the only reason you provide as to why they haven't signed, let me ask you why have some rookies already signed?

*edit
i misread that. what are you saying? they have signed because they don't need to be?

That Guy 05-21-2012 08:13 PM

Re: Redskins rookie signing thread

they'll be signed when they need to be signed. right now they don't. some rookies probably needed the bonus money or wanted to get it out of the way, you'd have to ask them or their agents.

we'll see how many 1st rounders hold out of training camp this year. my guess is right around zero. I don't know what the issue here is our why i'd written 3 posts on something thats not even worth mentioning.

so instead of 13 signings, we have over 125 (this is a week old) and at least 6 first round picks. some 1st rounders can argue over guaranteed money.

the 5th year option allows a team to keep a 1st rounder for an extra year (paying them average top 10 money at their position if they're a top 10 pick and the average salary of position player #3-#25 if they're pick 11-32).
