Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary
Good to hear people are buying in. If we get better play in the secondary and stay healthy up front, no excuse we cant be a top 5 defense.

Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary
That get me excited about our secondary.

Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary
Morris can't work miracles. It's going to be a long year in the secondary. Hopefully we'll have a strong pass rush to help out.

Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary
I was reading somewhere (might have been here) that Meriweather has been turning heads with his quality of play. That is a good sign!
Shanny may have given Morris lemons, but given what he was able to do as a secondary coach in TB, he might be able to make lemonade. |
Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary
i beleive our secondary will be much better than last year, Raheem is known for bringing energy and getting the best out of his players, although i do wish we kept LaRon and gave him one more chane I really do think our secondary will be just fine. From the sounds of it Merriweather seems to be on track to return to his Pro Bowl form, he has the ability. The player I am most excited to see is under rated Tanard Jackson, he is a true ballhawk something we havent had in sometime, he has a nose for the ball and will playmake and create turnovers.

Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary
As long as this new philosophy helps improve the secondary I don't care who starts or which defensive backs play in the defensive backfield. I want to see less big plays given up, more interceptions, and more hard hitting.

Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary
It is good that we got Raheem Morris. It will lead to smarter play in the secondary.
Haslett is not good (terrible) at calling secondary plays. It is his weakness in fact. I still remember the 3rd and 20+ yards play against Dallas two season ago and Haslett called an all out blitz. Haslett called three all out blitzed in a row and we got burned. Let Hasslett run the front seven, the former LB is more comfortable with. I am concerned about the players we got for our secondary. I never liked the CB Wilson for Carlos Rogers change. That was a downgrade. Now the safety position is really a big question mark. Hopefully it will pan out. But it will be a long season season if our secondary is weak. Hopefully the pass rush can make up for the inexperience and retreads we have back there. |
Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary
Like to see Barnes play the boundry corner rather than the slot and move D Hall inside.

Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary
I would like to see Barnes gain 15 to 20 pounds of muscle and play safety. He does not have the change of direction speed to be a good CB in the NFL. His in line speed is good, but he gets beat when he has to change directions.

Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary
I was expecting a need to rotate guys because we don't have a lot of talent in the secondary, but it sounds like Morris can use their strengths and keep them all fresher than the WRs they're covering.
I like using Hall in that Woodson-type role with less man-to-man coverage. He's a playmaker who can get his hands on the ball and score, but coverage is his weakness. |

I'd like to see Barnes play terribly for another team. |
Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary
I'm still concerned about our secondary.
They say "Meriweather has gotten his hand on lots of balls" Well great, but who was throwing those balls? A Rookie QB or Rex Grossman? Neither is that impressive (yet). I've learned to take caution at articles like this. In years past I would read Washington Post, Redskins.com, SI, CBSsports etc articles that would say something positive about the redskins and I'd get all hyped and optimistic. Then preseason and regular season none of that which I would read about the skins improving or getting better would be shown to me. The way how some people read this is "Oh our secondary has improved by Raheem being here!" the way how I read this is "We don't know who is good and we're playing everybody everywhere in the secondary to find out who goes best, where." |

well yeah me too. But with our limited cap, we decided to keep him. I think its good we are at least trying to use him in a different ways other than covering the slot where he got crushed time and time again. I still think there is a good chance he gets cut. |
Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary
Tell DHall not to spin around in circles as much.
