Update: Kirk Cousins to Start vs Browns
I figured this was thread worthy. More importantly, Pierre Garcon just said on SportsCenter that Kirk Cousins would be starting!!
Whether it's true, a rumor, or a calculated misdirection by Shanny remains to be seen. But it's out there for now. |
re: Update: Kirk Cousins to Start vs Browns
Sit him this week. Let Cousins start with Rexy behind him.

re: Update: Kirk Cousins to Start vs Browns
it all depends on how he feels and how the swelling is .. cleveland is no cupcake, not that we beat cupcakes usually anyway but, i think though that IF cousins starts they will have a good gameplan in place for him and run the ball alot with Morris and if our defense plays well enough we could definitely still win. we are playing inspired Team football.

Make him the back up for that game and only bring him in if you have too. I would also activate Grossman for that game as insurance.

re: Update: Kirk Cousins to Start vs Browns
I'd personally let him rest a week and let Kirk take on the Browns. One loss doesn't necessarily kill us and if we need to lose one, it should be the non-division game. We need the NFC East wins for the tiebreaker that's likely to happen.
Besides, I think Cousins, Morris and Garcon can still beat the Browns. We need to just run Morris down their throats all day. However, we're in a playoff run. We haven't won the division since 1999. Part of me wants full steam ahead. |
re: Update: Kirk Cousins to Start vs Browns
Cousins is going to start but RG3 will be in uniform.

re: Update: Kirk Cousins to Start vs Browns
John "Iron Knees" Beck would have been unhurt by the hit that sent Griffin down.
Bring back John Beck! |
Let Cousins start if need be but I'd dress RG3 too just in case. This game is too important.

re: Update: Kirk Cousins to Start vs Browns
I still believe the only way the Redskins get into the playoffs is 10-6, and if Griffin is healthy, you play him. If the 'skins were 8-5 right now, I'd say without a doubt, give Griffin a break and bring in Cousins. But, that's not the case and the Redskins are playing for their playoff lives, so every game counts.

re: Update: Kirk Cousins to Start vs Browns
I like the idea of RG3 starting. I know Cousins is capable, but a LCL sprain isn't that serious. As far as Pierre Garcon stating that Cousins is starting, it to me sounds like something Mike Shanahan told him to say to the media.

re: Update: Kirk Cousins to Start vs Browns
I would imagine there's a decent chance he'll be wearing some sort of knee brace, which would inhibit his mobility. Do we want less than 100% standing in the pocket behind our offensive line?
Sounds iffy to me. |

I like that approach. Bring him in in crucial situations...maybe put both guys on the field at once...confuse the heck out of Cleveland. Kyle has been incredible at playcalling lately. Forget the Baltimore defense, I'm a fan of of the Skins and didn't see them running Cousins up the middle for that two-point conversion. Expect the unexpected with this offense. |

Stop stealing my ideas SFREDSKIN! :smashfrea I kid of course. But yeah, start Kirk, make RG3 the back up. |
re: Update: Kirk Cousins to Start vs Browns
If RG3 is medically cleared to play, and he feels 95%, he should start. If there is any legitimate concern that his playing could cause him to re-injure the knee, whereas sitting him a week would do wonders for his recovery, then he should sit.

re: Update: Kirk Cousins to Start vs Browns
If he can go he has to go. The hubris is just too much to me. I am fighting my inner need to err on the side of caution though. A huge part of me wants him to sit.
