Re: RIP Roger Ebert
Wow...70 is young.
Siskel was only 53. |
Re: RIP Roger Ebert
That sucks; always enjoyed him.

Re: RIP Roger Ebert
That sucks. I used to watch Siskel and Ebert all the time when I was younger. I'll miss seeing his name on the critic list. :(
RIP Roger. |
Re: RIP Roger Ebert
Damn I just read an article that said he would be scaling back on his movie reviews because his cancer had returned. And now he's gone.
RIP Roger Ebert. |
Re: RIP Roger Ebert
Sad stuff I always regard his opinion when choosing a movie. I give this news 2 thumbs down.

I know it is coming, and I do not fear it, because I believe there is nothing on the other side of death to fear. I hope to be spared as much pain as possible on the approach path. I was perfectly content before I was born, and I think of death as the same state. I am grateful for the gifts of intelligence, love, wonder and laughter. You can’t say it wasn’t interesting. My lifetime’s memories are what I have brought home from the trip. I will require them for eternity no more than that little souvenir of the Eiffel Tower I brought home from Paris. We just lost another of the good guys. <shakes_fist_at_cancer> |

RIP Roger Ebert.
He scaled back. |
Re: RIP Roger Ebert
RIP. The man put film critique on the map, imo.

Re: RIP Roger Ebert
Sucky. I remember when he lost half his jaw from the cancer, it was awful. I remember watching Siskel and Ebert's reviews as a kid.

Good thing you're around, otherwise our dumbass comment quota wouldn't have been met. |
Re: RIP Roger Ebert
Wow. I know he's been struggling for cancer for years, so i should have seen this coming, but i have to say i'm shocked. Like paaron46, i absolutely loved his writing. In recent years i feel he was far too kind in reviewing horrible movies, giving them much higher ratings than they deserved, but his reviews were always those i reviewed first. Aside from stupid no-brain summer action movies that Ebert would, for some reason, give 3 stars when they deserved 1-2, i generally found that my tastes aligned with his. If he recommended a movie, i was going to go see it. Although disagreed with some of the personal beleifs he expressed in his blog over the years, i always respected the logical way he reached his conclusions. He made solid arguments. I know this is an odd comparison to make, but in many ways his writing style reminded me of Sir Isaac Asimov, atleast his non-fiction work. Ebert was a joy to read. I will genuinely miss him.

This was an amazing verbal beat down, on Congress, by Siskel and Ebert. |
