Moss to sign "multiyear contract befitting a No. 1 wideout"

According to sources, wide receiver Santana Moss, who was traded for wideout Laveranues Coles, will sign a rich, multiyear contract befitting a No. 1 wideout. Sources said after the March 5 trade, the Redskins and Moss's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, agreed on the parameters of an extension, and Washington is waiting to announce the deal after creating cap space. According to one source, who requested anonymity because the new deal hasn't been announced, Moss will average more than the annual salary in Coles's original contract in Washington -- a seven-year deal worth $35 million that included a $13 million bonus. Rosenhaus, whose client was scheduled to earn about $450,000 in 2005, declined to comment last week. . . . |

Re: Moss to sign "multiyear contract befitting a No. 1 wideout"
OMG Snyder has far too much money to play around with.......

Re: Moss to sign "multiyear contract befitting a No. 1 wideout"
so we got a worse wideout and we're going to pay him more money???

Re: Moss to sign "multiyear contract befitting a No. 1 wideout"
It will be interesting to see how the contract actually breaks down year by year, how heavily backloaded it is

Re: Moss to sign "multiyear contract befitting a No. 1 wideout"
That's friggin crazy. Once again, we won't pay guys like Pierce and Smoot, but we'll overpay outsiders. If this is true, I'm going to say Gibbs should resign as team President.

Re: Moss to sign "multiyear contract befitting a No. 1 wideout"
im really not upset at all about this, if we are actually paying more for moss than coles. plus it only says the annual salary will be more, and nothing about the SB. lets just wait to see how it plays out, what it does to our cap space, etc. before we chase gibbs away from being team president

Re: Moss to sign "multiyear contract befitting a No. 1 wideout"
Ugh - he hasn't done anything. Sign him to a deal based on past performance for 3 years. Then see how he does as a skin and work from there.
BAD NEWS! |
Re: Moss to sign "multiyear contract befitting a No. 1 wideout"
What, does Drew Rosenhaus have dirty pictures of Danny and the monkey boy? Jeeze. I expected him to re-sign, and that always comes with a bonus, but that sounds like a lot! I hope it's very much tied to injury incentives. If this guy gets hurt a lot, we need to cover our asses. When he's healthy, he's a good receiver and can fly. But wow. So much for cap space!

coles managed to screw us again

How is this Coles fault? No way should we resign Moss to a richer contract than what Coles was on. I would make him play on his old contract and then resign him after the season. If he has a breakout year and we can't afford him, then let him go, but at least make him earn a deal. WR is the most overrated position in the NFL. A good WR is easy to find. I think this shows that we desperatley need a GM. Someone like Ron Wolf would be ideal, not sure what he is doing now. |
Re: Moss to sign "multiyear contract befitting a No. 1 wideout"
Also if this does happen i think it is a clear indication that we will not take a WR with our 1st rounder.
It makes no sense to have Moss on a huge deal and then draft a WR No9 who will also command a big deal. |
Re: Moss to sign "multiyear contract befitting a No. 1 wideout"
I had heard earlier that the deal would take place either after June 1st or after the season had begun. Which ever way it affected our cap status this year.
Moss is a pretty good reciever and rember he was playing in Paul Hacketts system which is a vertical offense a la Norv Turner. Recievers do not flourish in this schyme anymore as Safties and corners are smarter and faster. Defensive schemes have changed to so vertical just does not work. So in actuallity Moss might fit our system better then Coles. Both are good recievers so please do not claim we got a bad deal. |
Re: Moss to sign "multiyear contract befitting a No. 1 wideout"
So we can't pay Smoot too much because we didn't pay Springs too much.
But since we already paid Coles too much it's OK to pay Moss too much. I don't get it. |
