You are the Redskins' GM and...

... your division rival Philly Eagles call you and make this offer on a take it or leave it basis. No negotiating; this is a one time offer.

You give Philly the #25 pick in this draft.

Thay give you the #31 pick in this draft plus their third round pick and their seventh round pick.

Do you take the deal?

I would take it, but I am certainly not the Redskins' GM!

nope, screw the eagles. I'd do absolutely nothing that might even remotely make life easier for them.

If They Called Me Then I Know They Need Something. I Definetly Get A 2nd Rounder To Go Wih This Deal

I would ask them who the player was they wanted, if not someone we considered to draft, draft him, then trade him for the picks.

If they want it, I want it more. The third becomes a second or no deal. Give Oakland a call.

Make it a swap of firsts and a 2nd then it's a deal..

No, becuase I've targeted a lot of talent at positions I need at 25. 31 won't reliably get me the quality I need. Plus, I think that the "chart value" isn't a great pickup. Given that we've got some folks targeted (you'll have to trust me here; I AM the GM), it's not enough to offset missing one of my targeted guys.

Re: You are the Redskins' GM and...

Sorry to have posted this and run but I had to meet with someone and was late... It was a waste of time; he had nothing even interesting to say let alone important.

Here is the story I was told - and if true this is why all of the ideas of holding out for something else won't work.

SUPPOSEDLY, right after the Skins got the 25th pick from the Broncos, the Eagles offered them a deal to swap the 25th for the 31st and the deal was that the Eagles would give the Redskins the Eagles third and SIXTH round picks but that in the future the offer would only go down not up.

The Skins said no.

Then SUPPOSEDLY in the last 36 hours the Redskins were calling aournd to everyone talking about trading up and trading down and came to the Eagles. The Skins brought up the previous offer and wanted to talk about it and the Eagles said the offer now was their thrid and their SEVENTH because the price was going down not up.

So, holding out doesn't look like it's gonna yield much and the offer on the table is a third and a seventh for switching positions in the first round. Remember, waiting until tomorrow to "see who's on the board" might drive the offer even lower. OR the Eagles - who have 13 picks in this draft - might make a deal with whomever has the the 24th piick and then the Skins need to worry if the Eagles have targeted the same guy they have targeted.

I'd take the deal. I'd have taken the deal when first offered, but that's probably water over the dam now. The reason I'd take the deal is that I believe there is value in the 3rd round and with even a little luck the Skins can find a special teams contributor in the 7th round.

And I do not subscribe to the idea that this team is only inches away from a conference championship...

I don't subscribe to the idea that we're inches from the conference championship either. I think we'd like to get two players who can start pretty soon from this draft--long term starters. Our chances are better at 25 than 31, for what it's worth.

As for calling back the iggles and so on, I think we've been calling everyone at this point. Don't know what to make of the "it only goes down" thing--sounds like a team that's winning a lot and has lots of picks--no worries, everything is groovy. Screw em. May the Madden curse bite them in the ass, leaving them the Bills of the 21st century.

That's probably why I'm not a GM.... ;)

I suspect that you and I are both not the Skins' GM because neither of us would be able to co-exist with Danny Boy for more than about 72 hours.

no, no trade, to give them six spots in front of us they would have to give more than a 3rd and 7th ( 3rd and 5th or 2nd and 6th ) if the skins are up at 25 and theres a player the eagles really want, they will call us back and sweeten the offer.
