Sporting News Unit Analysis: Defensive Tackles

May 13:

Washington Redskins: "B - Cornelius Griffin is a force; Brandon Noble has good run-stoppin ability."

Atleast they give Griffin some credit for his performance last season...

i mean about time they give him his props. he is a beast with plenty more talent than what he showed last year at times. I would prefer another dt to go along with him.

I just hope that Griffin can continue to overachieve. The whole unit gets the chance to show it wasn't a one-hit wonder this year.

If anyone can do it, GW can. I'm interested to see how he can integrate the rookies and Holdman.

I thought Salave'a did a pretty damn good job as well last year

Big Joe was definitely pretty solid, hopefully Noble will be stronger too.

What is that status of Noble's injury? He'll be ready for regular season right?

I think our DTs last year really showed what the skins want to be--underacheivers with chips on their shoulders who just make play after play. Real blue collar stuff. I loved watching those guys stuff the run last year. And I was worried about them before the season.

I'm actually kinda glad Griffen didn't make the pro-bowl last year--he's still got to prove it, and that's excellent motivation.

Noble's problem is not with the knee he tore up two years ago--it's with the other knee. It's an infection due to minor surgery. From what I read, he'll be ready, but those things can linger. He's a tough dude though--kind of a lumber jack playing football.

I have no doubts in my mind that our defense will be ready to go this year. I, too, hope Griffin can continue to impress this year.

True. I remember Noble wearing that club last year when he broke his hand. If not, we STILL have loads of depth.

I'm not particularly worried about the Dline, but I think it's a stretch to say we have loads of depth without Noble. Who do we have outside of the starters? Demetric Evans and Ryan Boschetti?

I thought they played adequately for a fill-in. Granted, they won't be playmakers, but I'm not worried about their abilities.
