SN Unit Analysis: Linebackers
May 27 issue:
Washington Redskins: "B - Marcus Washington can do everything from either side; the depth is solid." Inside the NFC: "It seems unlikely free-agent signee Warrick Holdman will wrest the REDSKINS starting middle linebacker job from Lemar Marshall, whose adjustment to the inside is going well. But Holdman provides versatilty at linebacker and could prove particulary valuable as a pass-rushing specialist..." |
Re: SN Unit Analysis: Linebackers
Hmmm.. suprising statement.

Re: SN Unit Analysis: Linebackers
I agree. I think that Holdman will adjust fine and be a fitting replacement for Pierce.

Re: SN Unit Analysis: Linebackers
Thanks Malcolm Connection about time somebody know football. Give Holdman a chance first and than bad talk him. Pierce was not dominant and he didn't have lavar with him in there. At least holdman will get a chance to play with lavar, daniels and co.

Re: SN Unit Analysis: Linebackers
I loved Pierce and I was really upset initially when we lost him, but I think we have a few guys that are more than capable of stepping in and playing at a high level for us this year. Holdman is a proven vet who Blache is familiar with, Marshall played well for us last year when pushed into duty, and we have a couple of other promising prospects like McCune, Clifton Smith, etc.
With the way Williams coaches the D and expects all the LBs to know how to play every LB spot, we could even slide someone over like Washington in a pinch. |
Re: SN Unit Analysis: Linebackers
I'm driving the Khary Campbell bandwagon this year...who knows why

Re: SN Unit Analysis: Linebackers
B seems a little low to me given that we have two probowlers plus two more former probowlers at middle who might not even start. Also we have a genius running the show who knows how to use players of that pedigree. I think we are pretty stacked at LB and deserve at least a B+/A-. BTW, the more time passes, the happier I am that we did not resign Pierce.

Re: SN Unit Analysis: Linebackers
Who was ranked with As?

Re: SN Unit Analysis: Linebackers
If Lavar gets back to full strength, we've got pro-bowl bookend LBs in an LB friendly system. But until we get the MLB settled, I guess it's fair to say B.
If Holdman (or whoever) can jump in at MLB like Pierce did, and Lavar is back to form, we'll be an A unit. But those are legit questions. |
