Drinking Question: Absinthe

I've been debating on ordering some of this stuff from overseas and I know it's illegal here, but has anyone tried it? They serve a watered-down version in Blacksburg, but I want to try the real deal and see what is up.

Re: Drinking Question: Absinthe

I've never had it but I've heard from military people about themselves and crew mates getting really really f-ed up on that stuff during oversea trips. I'm all for trying different drinks here and there but some shit that's gonna make u see a boat load of stuff I shouldn't be seeing.

I've heard that you don't REALLY hallucinate, BUT it gives you a drunk like you have never felt before. You feel more concentrated and have an overall feeling of well-being.

Guess that's why Van Gogh cut his ear off.

I heard if you get the real stuff, the strong stuff, you do hallucinate but it gives you a good drunk. I'm also considering getting a bottle. Is it able to be shipped in?

It's subject to seizure by customs according to this site

A word of advice: Don't.

The stuff is rank. But, hey, if you're after 'Good and Fucked up' drunk this will do it.

Re: Drinking Question: Absinthe

Yeah, I've heard it's subject to seizure as well, but I know a lot of people who have gotten it shipped in. Basically, you're gambling $75-150 bucks, but it may be worth it.

Why do you say no RedskinRat? Just the taste, or does it mess you up more than just a drunk?

Re: Drinking Question: Absinthe

It was the weapon of choice some years back (OK, the late 70's early 80's) and cost me a few nights in military jail (Regimental, not Army) plus a few scars. :smashfrea

Not to be messed with. If you really HAVE to drink the stuff, first lock yourself in a room, them tie yourself down. I did drink half a bottle of the crap on top of some beer/wine/spritis.

The things we do when we're young....

TMC, don't forget to provide a reasoned and scientific essay on 'How I Drank Absinthe and Survived' for the rest of the class, we'll start collecting bail money now.

Re: Drinking Question: Absinthe

Why not just pound 20 beers, do a few shots and smoke a J?

Isn't that enough fun for one night??

Re: Drinking Question: Absinthe

I like to push the limits of fun. :)

And if I do decide on ordering some, I will indeed put a detailed essay on how I cut my ear off before becoming a world-renowned artist.

I can understand the younger dudes wanting to have fun and experiment. But, please listen to the older, wiser Skins fans! We have all been there! :-)
