Love this move!! Always liked the head hunter!

Re: Redskins add Greg Manusky to defensive staff
I wonder if Joe Barry is looking over his back?

Wouldn't be the worst thing if he was. |
Re: Redskins add Greg Manusky to defensive staff
You got basically 3 DC's , Fewell, Barry and Manusky. Nice depth.

Re: Redskins add Greg Manusky to defensive staff
To be clear I don't fault Barry for our performance this year on defense, with as many players as we had missing the fact that we hung in games well enough to win 9 is pretty good.
But I'm not sure he's a "+" coordinator. I don't think he'll get more out of the talent available to him than the talent itself dictates. |

Barry has this year to improve and if not...he's gone. |
Re: Redskins add Greg Manusky to defensive staff
I like it as well. Putting a little pressure on Barry isn't the worst thing. I know we had a lot of injuries last year but it's better to find out early if keeping him here long term is good.

I read something earlier that said, we didn't have and OLB coach last season. Olivadotti is the ILB coach. I wouldn't read anything into this other than we needed a coach and he was a great on available. Barry has nothing to worry about. |
Re: Redskins add Greg Manusky to defensive staff
Can't go wrong with better defensive minds
|
Re: Redskins add Greg Manusky to defensive staff
Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't see this as a threat to Barry, just adding another good coach to the staff.

Re: Redskins add Greg Manusky to defensive staff
I thought Barry did a decent job this year. Our defense obviously had issues but it was a credible defense. I didn't ever feel like they were simply getting out-coached or out-matched. We just had a crippling amount of injuries. I mean we had a converted WR playing CB, a converted CB playing safety, two guys playing ILB who are depth guys at best, etc...
How good can he be with some more talent and a little better luck in the injury department? Not sure. I do agree I didn't get the feeling he was a genius DC who was going to make the unit better than the sum of its parts ala Gregg Williams. |
Re: Redskins add Greg Manusky to defensive staff
I thought Barry did a good job, despite the injuries. People need to stop wanting to fire coaches left and right. Maybe if we have some damn continuity in the coaching staff on both sides of the ball we can keep winning games.

Welcome back!

Re: Redskins add Greg Manusky to defensive staff
barry was okay. i still would have preferred wade, who's killing it (with better talent). but it is what it is.
