Dak v. Romo

So, having watched Dak for a few games, I think he's a solid QB - not spectacular. He works well in his system which doesn't ask too much of him. However, he doesn't strike me as someone who can, or ever will, be the guy to put a team on his back and drag them forward like Romo did on more than one occasion.

While he may end up having a few if he plays long enough, he just doesn't strike me as a guy who is going to make a reputation of late game heroics to pull victory from the jaws of defeat as Romo did. However, also unlike Romo, he simply doesn't make the critical mistake that seals the victory for the team.

To me, Dak seems good enough to win lots of games for the Cowpukes given their O-Line and running game. He just seems ... limited.

Clearly Dak is the future, but I am not sure which I prefer as Cowboys QB

Any thoughts? (either on Dak's potential and, if you could chose, who you prefer as the Dallas QB - and by that I mean a Romo type QB (big critical plays/big critical mistakes) v. a Dak type QB (none of either)).

Maybe it was you who said it, but whoever said he has a low ceiling, I agree (Prescott that is). I watch more Cowboys football than I care to admit because I love to see them fail, but he just isn't slinging it all over the field and winning the game by himself. Unfortunately, the Cowboys are built to where they can win with an offensive line alone. I hope we don't see Romo during the playoffs because HE could actually get them somewhere.

Re: Dak v. Romo

Romo is more of the gunslinger, big play type QB who will get burned or look brilliant.

Dak is just a smart guy at QB. He is more the game manager-type, will dink and dunk yah to death and has the athleticism to run the boot or pick up the first down with his feet.

I thought it was smart not to go back to Romo.

What Id like to talk about with the Cowboys, is Dez Bryant possibly the most overrated WR of all time? I think he is certainly in the discussion.

KC> Dak

Anyday.

Could u imagine KC behind that line and RB?

I thought it was pretty damn ridiculous that at 11-2 a QB change was even being discussed, granted it was more media drama than anything. Romo had a good run but it's over.

My opinion is he is a very good true 1WR but is not in the top tier of NFL receivers and is also very injury prone. He is also s crybaby bitch who I can't stand.

Dude is nowhere near these guys:

AJ Green
ODB jr
Antonio Brown
Julio
Mike Evans
Hopkins in Houston
Nelson in Green Bay

Underrated receivers who are better than Dez:

Brandon Cooks
Doug Baldwin
Kelvin Benjamin in Carolina

Been saying it all year, dak is a solid QB, but he's not a top tier passer and isn't accurate enough downfield. If it wasn't for that oline he wouldn't be very good just the facts. Romo if healthy is a very Good passer and QB, that team would be just as good if Tony was there.

I said he was low ceiling. Maybe lower than I thought. He does what he is told, and faces little to no pressure behind that line. Tons of weapons around him. Romo has been on the sideline too long to switch now, and is obviously getting old. So no doubt Dak is the future, but he is not ever going to be more than a game manager. He is not capable of carrying a team.
I feel dirty because of this thread. Im going to shower now and stop talking about the cowturds.

We know nothing of Dak's ceiling. After seeing the RGIII rookie season first hand and seeing him flounder ever since, I do not listen to the career predictions of great rookie QB's. In fact most of the really successful QB's either did not play (Brady) or struggled a little their rookie year (Bradshaw).
Romo has no future and will retire soon.
Tired of the Romo talk.

Agreed.

Even though we would all love to believe that Dak's ceiling is low and he'll never be great, the truth is we don't know. Right now he looks above average and I would imagine he still has room to improve. He is careful witht he football, but that maybe because he has never faced real preasure. When he starts getting pressured consistently, his INT's will go up. I wonder how Wentz would look playing for the Cowboys, and Dak for the Eagles.

Exactly! You go with the one who brought you. A new era in the NFL has arrived. Peyton retired and
Brady soon to follow. Rodgers will be the last one left soon of the older guard. Tony just needs to retire.

You think Romo has played his last down as a cowboy? Remember, Jerry Jones owns and is the GM.

Romo will not sit as a back up.Barring injury to Dak Romo will not see the field again as a Cowboy. With that name recognition I say Houston ,the Rams and always Cleveland maybe Chicago.

It is my opinion obviously. Watched him in college, and several times this year. He is doing a great job handling the position as a rookie, but nothing spectacular at all. Could even argue that without that oline, Zeke, Dez, etc that he would be downright lost. Time will tell.
