Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
I thought this would merit its own thread. The team has made several changes to its front office structure:

Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
Changes:
Doug Williams, Senior VP of Personnel (3rd highest ranking member behind Snyder, Allen) Eric Schaffer, VP of Football Operations Scott Campbell, Senior Personnel Executive Kyle Smith, Director of College Scouting (son of A.J. Smith) |
Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
This is a PR move, nothing more nothing less.

Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
Obviously Allen has structured this in favor of him having most the power in the org. I really don't care at this point, but he needs to win.
His head should be first to roll if things go south. |
Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
I like it. You may also notice at the bottom, Maclin is now a Raven.

100% true, and no one is responsible for anything; cuts, draft picks, or trades |
Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
Still gonna be Allen/Williams/Gruden doing personnel moves for the roster, so I don't think this changes anything. Just a shiny new title for people probably doing the work anyways.

Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
I like it, I guess. For those still upset about McC; he was no big lost, if he was so great some other team would have got him by now.
IMO I think we had a very good offseason at least on paper. Don't feed into the negative media shit about the Skins; sign KC to a good contract and the Skins had a very good offseason. |
Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
I like that this clarify the structure of the front office.
To me it seems that Williams and Gruden will be doing the majority of the decisions, with Allen having the final say on major issues (i.e. Cousins' contract, etc., etc.). I think this change gives Gruden more of an opportunity to have input in personnel decisions. Overall the team has had a good offseason so far, with a nice combination of free agency pick ups and draft picks. Now the icing on the cake would be signing Kirk to a long term contract, but that's not going to happen until July. |

Unless you know him personally is it safe to assume he wants a job with another team? I think in the event he has relapsed, operating his own scouting business would be a win-win. He makes money, he still gets to do scouting (which is obviously his forte), he's his own boss (doesn't have to worry about getting fired because his boss is jealous of not getting any credit). Maybe he hasn't taken a job because he doesn't want to take a job. Maybe he hasn't taken a job because he signed a NDA where he still gets paid by the Redskins in exchange for not joining another team. I don't think it's as clear-cut as you make it seem. |
Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
Sounds like some folks think Schaeffer's title should have been GM
Charley Casserly @CharleyCasserly · 42m42 minutes ago The @Redskins Eric Schaeffer the new VP of Football Operations is very talented & could be a President of an NFL team right now Louis RiddickVerified account @LRiddickESPN · 38m38 minutes ago My man Eric Schaffer being named VP of Football Ops in Washington long overdue. He is legit. He should be running the whole show somewhere One thing working against Schaffer, never working in Tampa Bay. |
Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
I'm not sure about his football acumen, but I know from years of wiggling in stupid free agent contracts against a salary cap that he has my full confidence in all contractual matters. With our luck he'll be hired as a team president/gm somewhere next year. Although in all honesty I'm not sure how we've managed to retain him all these years.

Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
I'm ok with stability, I like the way we're building the team this offseason, nothing really splashy, but solid football choices so far.

Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
Has there ever been any indication that Doug Williams knows anything at all about player personnel? Did i hear you say "No"? Well, that's great then! He's the perfect empty suit with no power to occupy a meaningless title under the autocratic rule of Bruce Allen. Allen has what he wants now. Let's see how he performs without a blueprint from Scot M.

Someone else on here i believe was saying at the time that the redskins had reached some sort of settlement privately with Scott M, i'm just saying that might be part of that... |
