Nice pick up. The guy was up for best center in CFB twice. Hopefully he can help with the run, and he is a youngster!!!!

Re: DeShaun Phillips traded to Steelers for a C
Not exactly a blockbuster (which I like), but excellent pick up, we add depth and competition at a crucial spot, while getting rid of a bad CB.
Really don't know what the Steelers saw there... |
Re: DeShaun Phillips traded to Steelers for a C
Swap of guys that were going to cut anyway, and likely still will.

Re: DeShaun Phillips traded to Steelers for a C
Pitt has solid depth at C, and we are pretty solid at CB, so this may be one of those cases where new scenery and new opportunities lets a guy shine. No picks were involved so it looks like a good move even if the new C does end up getting cut.

C Lucas Crowley listed at 269 pounds.

Re: DeShaun Phillips traded to Steelers for a C
Phillips wasn't going to make it anyway, with Dunbar and Moreau locks to make it. Crowley however is probably viewed as a just in case guy, someone we can stash on our practice squad in case Long doesn't come back as quickly as we'd like.
So Crowley is the just in case for the just in case. Where as Phillips was a goner anyway. In other words, whatever. |

Re: DeShaun Phillips traded to Steelers for a C
What I've seen so far, oline depth and the performance of some online starters has been unacceptable. Willing to give this guy a try vs keeping around someone who wasn't gonna make the team.
