So replay from NY seems like it's going to be worse than before. Bengals just challenged a catch where the ball hit the ground and moved but they let the catch stand.

Terrible.

I actually thought the game was rather entertaining in the second half, when the offenses did something. Didn't mind looking at a defensive struggle though. Geno Atkins and JJ Watt were putting on a clinic out there. Watson made some decent plays, even though his offensive line gave him no time.

I wonder what would be a good compromise if you got rid of TNF? My money would be on always having MNF double-headers with a late West Coast game. Either that or having a Sunday morning football game. Otherwise, I don't see where else you'd put another football game on national TV (Fridays are a no no and Saturdays are owned by college football).

I still like the Friday idea. As I get older, I realize drinking during the game is always a given and it's harder and harder to wake up the next day. Hell, if it weren't for college football, I'd LOVE a Saturday night game every week.

I'd rather watch High school ,some good games and it is more of a pure game.

Sorry can't drink when watching the game ,it distorts it,makes you think you know things when you really don't.Most fans are like that but drinking just magnifies it.I like my beer ,I am not anti drinking or having a good time,I just don't need it to watch a game I enjoy watching and evaluating what I see at a game.

Texans QB's have come and go. But hope Watson can hang around longer. Like the kid so far.

These days, however, the most popular U.S. professional sport isn't such a sure bet. According to Pivotal Research analyst Brian Wieser, viewership for the NFL was down 14 percent on a year-over-year basis during the first week of the 2017-18 season. That's the lowest level of same-week viewing since 2009

14% is significant period. What's the excuse this year? Last years excuse was pretty bad.

Re: Around the NFL Week 2.

I am dyed in the wool with the NFL and the Skins, so I will never stop watching, and thus maybe I'm not the best one to comment.

But I think the CBA with its rules about limiting padded practices and hitting really hurts the game. The product is not like I remember in the mid 2000s when a Sean Taylor hit could be celebrated for both the ferocity and the perfect form of the tackle.

I think the lack of practice time leads to a lot of mistakes, which shows in the form of penalties. I would love to see stats to confirm my thoughts here but I feel like we see flags all the damn time. Personal fouls for hitting, lots more holding, it reflects a declining quality of the play.

I think they need to practice more.
