This team is good.....but it's coaching that's holding it back
Even with Heinicke the offense is good
But Scott Turner is not his father. JDR has the defense playing great for the past 6 weeks but they made Daniel Jones look like John Elway. The pieces are there on both sides of the ball but talent isn't the problem. Coaching is. Until the Coaching is different from improvement or with different coordinators this team will continue to be a 7 to 10 win team every year. |

I totally agree but I think the fact that the staff is underwhelming has been covered even in the political threads lol.
Oh and 10 wins sounds like a dream come true. |
Re: This team is good.....but it's coaching that's holding it back
This team isn’t going to be a serious contender for anything until they have a legit QB. Heinicke and Wentz aren’t the answers. Sorry, the offense simply is not good.

I see coaching pluses and coaching minuses. I also see personnel pluses and personnel minuses.
I don't think they're being held back by the coaching but I also am not sure I see the coaching elevating the roster. They're extremely mid on offense because the QB who can escape pressure is limited physically, and the QB who can't escape pressure is paired with an offensive line that allows pressure up the middle. They need a better QB and more investment in the line. If you think you can upgrade coaching too I won't hate the move. But I'm more focused on quarterback. |

Have to score points to be good, our best offensive production was best the first few games with Wentz then it was a slow burn. We know Wentz isn't answer however. TH is a great back up, I have the utmost confidence in him if the starter QB has to leave the game that we will have a shot but an entire season he can't carry.

True, but the redzone efficiency, ie scoring TDs, is the main issue and that has a lot to do with the playcalling. Up to the redzone the offense works relatively well. When Wentz was in we would score more TDs from distance, so the redzone efficiency wasn't as critical. |

It is like we finally found all the things we need in a quarterback but they come in two different guys. I have literally asked myself why Wentz cant have Taylors legs or Taylor have Wentz’s arm all year. |

Turner couldn’t race a Formula one with wings. Does he have all the tools he needs? Absolutely not. Does he do his best without them? Hell naw. |

Where are you getting the football IQ, ability to throw accurately and not into triple coverage from? |
Re: This team is good.....but it's coaching that's holding it back
With Wentz, at least the offense had a chance to be exciting.
With Heinicke, it's always going to be a battle getting to 20 points. No way Heinicke is going to score enough against SF. Our offensive line fucks us no matter which way we go tho. They freaking stink. It's arranging chairs on the Titatic deciding who to go with at QB behind those guys. Turner is just not smart enough to win with what we have. Dude has no self-control with play calling. No way Rivera fires him. They are bros or something. Rivera only calls out players, never the coaches. |

We better be drafting OL in the first rd no exceptions

I'd be fine with: CB OT QB (least favorite, as I like Howell, but doesn't matter if the coaches don't) |
Re: This team is good.....but it's coaching that's holding it back
Starts with the QB.
I think Turner's strategy to run the ball turned the season around because he recognized the easiest path to victory rather than putting the ball in a QB hands. The internal battle for Turner is the most talented personnel on offense is the receiving corp of Samuel, J Dot and Terry. |

Go 3-wide with Bates at TE, and pound the fucking football, then use that to set-up quick play-action passes and the short passing game in general. All 3 of those WRs are great with the ball in their hands, give it to them, and let them eat. Then mix in the occasional long-ball. I really wish Heinicke knew how to run a read-option. That would be a huge weapon, and something that he should be good at, but he's not. |
