WR Corps in question?
Is the signing of Dyson an early sign that Gibbs goofed on thinking that our WR corps isn't as good as he thought? Maybe if we had these OTAs before the draft, Gibbs would have known that drafting a WR was a high priority as well. Or are you guys confident that the signing of Dyson is only to support competition among the WRs? In other words, Dyson won't make the team. :oink:

Re: WR Corps in question?
Dyson isn't a threat to break into the starting lineup anytime soon.
If I was McCants though, I might be a bit concerned for my job. |

Can you have OTAs before the draft?

Re: WR Corps in question?
i think otas are post draft, and dyson is a nobody receiver, he's better than the UDFAs and he's been to two superbowls, but i don't think he'll have a chance to climb above #5 on our depth chart.

No. [QUOTE=BossHog] Or are you guys confident that the signing of Dyson is only to support competition among the WRs? Our QB's need to do a better job. |

From what I understand of the offseason workout rules, you can have any of the allotted 14 OTA sessions at any time (except weekends, and no more than 4 OTAs per week) within the allotted 14 weeks of offseason workouts. Each year, the NFL and NFLPA agree to a start date at which point teams are allowed to begin their workout programs. I'm not sure when that date was this year, but I believe it's generally six weeks after the Super Bowl, so it would have been around March 21st this year. That would have given teams about a month before the draft to get a sense of what their roster looks like in workouts. I think teams tend to want to hold OTAs later in the workout program (ie, after the draft), because players will be further along in the workout program and ostensibly less prone to injury, injured players may have enough time to recover and participate, and most of the post-draft free agent signings will be complete. This allows them to see more of their potential roster in action on the field. As for the Dyson signing and its significance, I think he will challenge McCants for the 5th receiver spot, but I don't see him displacing any of the other four receivers (Moss, Patten, Jacobs, Thrash). I think Gibbs is still pretty confident in that quartet. |

Yep, I've got the butterflies in my stomach real bad, like I'm about to ask the hottest girl in school to be my prom date... I get that feeling every time I'm getting ready for a camp report. It's definitely minicamp time! |
Re: WR Corps in question?
Sweet. I wish I could go to something like that. And speaking of hottest girls and prom dates, maybe you get to meet some cheerleaders while you're there. ;)

Great! Just remember, if I'm buying dinner, then I'll expect to be compensated accordingly. That shouldn't be a problem for you, though. I've heard you're a fantastic date... if ya know what I mean... :thumb: |
Re: WR Corps in question?
Remember Daseal, don't give it all up on the first date. Play hard to get!
