I think only time will tell, its everyones hope that our rookie QB pick will be the next Joe Montana or Brett Farve.

He's THAT big?! I didn't even know that. Jeezus.

Re: campbell is culpepper clone?

Yeah they're definitely not even close to the same size. Campbell is tall, and pretty strong, but Culpepper is a behemoth.

Re: campbell is culpepper clone?

Campbell is actually an inch taller at 6-5, but Culpepper outweighs him by a good 35 pounds

Re: campbell is culpepper clone?

OK, that sounds more legit. I just didn't feel like checking.

Re: campbell is culpepper clone?

I'd prefer to compare Campbell to a young Doug Williams, although from all I've heard, Campbell has already developed a nice touch on his long passes that Williams lacked early in his career. Both have (had) rocket arms able to throw any pass in the book, both excelled on medium to long range passes, and both were good scramblers with excellent mobility (Williams scrambled far less in his later years, when he played in Washington). However, Williams was often maligned for overthrowing receivers; the papers said he was the only person who could overthrow the regime in Iran. It wasn't until after a few years in the USFL that Williams improved on his touch, allowing him to torch secondaries once he joined the 'Skins. Expect Campbell to have his share of growing pains, but also expect him to contribute sometime in the next two or three years.

It will be intresting to see who ends up as our second string QB. I would say that skip it to him Brunell would be listed as our 2nd starting off but as thing progress that could change.

Re: campbell is culpepper clone?

I'd prefer Campbell to win the backup job. It's only going to stunt his development to have him as third string...

...unless they ARE planning on replacing Ramsey and I'll forego beating an already dead and decomposing horse.

Re: campbell is culpepper clone?

Brunell in all likelihood be the backup this year.

I'm actually kinda interested to see how Brunell looks this preseason.

Re: campbell is culpepper clone?

I expect Campbell to be the backup no later than midseason and if the Redskins struggle he will play (assuming QB is part of the problem) once the playoffs are out of reach.. Obviously hoping that we don't have to worry about that as we roll towards the postseason! :httr:
